1pm Temps. Nothing historic (It is January) but it's always interesting to see these afternoon temps with full sun mind you.

Pittsburgh 11° with full sun.
22 Bridgeport
21 Hartford

10-20 below normal on map. 850mb temps -10C or colder north of Virginia.

Bridgeport on average only gets 3 days where the max temp stays below 26° in January. (2 in Feb, 1 in Dec)

Today will be the 4th day.
Most was 13 in January 2004.
Last year 7.

Quick check of Euro And GFS looks like they are trending warmer. Its one of those "close calls". Unlike Thursday where we were 100% sure it would be all snow, Monday is looking marginal.

You know what that means. Rain &/or mix south of 84. Sleet, snow, mix northwards. Too busy to check anything else.

What do forecasts or discussions show?

I also noticed that (at least based on forecast changes) the models seemed to have thrown out next Thursday's storm and show cold but completely sunny weather from Tuesday through the weekend? Did it "fizzle" out or did it go out to sea?

Down and out like this winter season has been. lol

Click on "loop all" about center right of screen. Watch the latest GFS in action. Might have to slow down the loop to look at the date stamp. Or pause.

Looks like another Monday morning commute mess. I think north of Merrit at first, then north of 84 as morning goes on. Gonna be last minute thing again? We'll see

Looks like we stay near or below freezing for another week at least. Not bad. But like many have said... the cold is not worth it unless there's a snowstorm. While I'm enjoying the air temp (and getting used to it now) in a way I rather have spring come because having no snowstorms to track is really annoying.

New NAM model update is warm for Monday.. This image is for 10am. Thin blue 32° line is the surface temps. Notice Lichfield county is still below freezing.

The thick blue line is the freezing line at 2500 feet
The thick red line is the freezing line at 4500 feet.

Anyone south of those lines are above freezing. So this shows ice for Lichfield. Rain for everyone else 10am

Another dud? This has to be one of the worst winters I can remember so far. Cold snaps do usually end with a big snow storm though! Maybe a big one in late janaury right before the thaw. Wishful thinking. We will see.

Seeing how cold the ground is, isn't this a setup for freezing rain Monday morning?

Nothing worse or more dangerous than freezing rain
