Anything of note for New Britain? I'm spending a chunk of the weekend here in Portland, ME. We had a brief but hefty thundershower in the 4 PM hour (Saturday) with little wind. A bit after 6 PM there was quite a bit of downdraft wind and some heavy rain off and on for roughly half an hour. Didn't see any hail either time, thank goodness. It was enough weather action that the Portland Seadogs (AA-Boston Red Sox) moved up their Eastern League Division Series playoff game against the Binghamton Mets from 6 PM to noon ET (Bingo won 11-4, forcing a game 5 on Sunday).

What a difference after the front passed. Feels great out there.

I think that was the last of the heat/humidity for the summer. Looking more like fall...

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/... HIGHLIGHTS... * A FEW SHOWERS POSS EASTERN NEW ENGLAND MON NIGHT/TUE BUT NO WASHOUT * MAINLY DRY AND SEASONABLE WED * SCT SHOWERS/ISO THUNDER POSSIBLE THU AFTERNOON INTO EARLY FRI * A TASTE OF FALL BY NEXT WEEKEND

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY... DEPENDING ON TIMING OF THE FRONT...SOME SHOWERS MAY LINGER FRIDAY MORNING ACROSS EASTERN NEW ENGLAND. OTHERWISE...MAINLY DRY WEATHER LIKELY FOR THE REST OF FRI INTO SAT. IT WILL TAKE SOMETIME FOR COOLER AIR TO FILTER IN BEHIND THE FRONT...SO WE MAY END UP WITH WARM AFTERNOON ON FRIDAY. LOOKS LIKE COOLER AIR WORKS INTO THE REGION FOR NEXT WEEKEND WITH A TASTE OF FALL IN THE AIR.

Graphic of high temps today from BOX. Look at the little "red spot" (I think it means over 80) right over BDL, LOL!

Cool! Looks like you had slightly lower max and min than me. The amount of max temps in 70s/80s was reversed though. You had more max in the 70s although 78-81 isn't too far off if that was the case most of the time.

You're August seemed longer than mine 41 nights!

Lets see if we can add one in the 40s column this month.

Curious how many 90°+ days there's been?

Check out these stations. Some have not even hit like Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Islip, Danbury, New Haven, Groton, State College, ect.

And yes, BDL has 1 more than Baltimore. lol Same as Newark.

I think there is a pattern change underway. Looks quite cool going forward. Next weekend especially. 50's and 60's for highs next Sunday is looking plausible.

LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/... LATER IN THE WEEK...A STRONG UPPER LOW FORMS IN THE VICINITY OF THE GREAT LAKES...SENDING A DEEPENING LOW NE INTO CANADA AND A COLD FRONT ACROSS THE AREA THU NIGHT INTO FRI. THIS FRONT WILL MARK THE LEADING EDGE OF SOME UNSEASONABLY COOL AUTUMN AIR AND WILL LIKELY BE ACCOMPANIED BY CONVECTION. TEMPS REBOUND TO NEAR OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL THU AND FRI AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT. MUCH COOLER AIR WILL ENTER THE REGION FRI NIGHT INTO SAT BEHIND THE COLD FRONT.

First flakes in the lower 48...

Nice to see some excitement. While it's not technically the first, it might be for lower elevations of North Dakota/Minnesota. We'll see.

If you have any clouds above you today it should be generally coming from the North direction. best type of flow (IMO of course )

Clear skies tonight = radiational cooling tonight.

I like the new forecast map from NWS except the color blend can be tricky.(ie 40s/low 50s)

Couldnt understand why I Had to blast the A/C in the car just now... Unbelievable. Dewpoint 59 here in a "dry airmass" Feels so muggy and warm still. Ugh.

Figures BDR is high. Typical for here when everyone else is dry.
