7 am update... Pleasant morning across southern new england with temps in the 50s to near 60 at 630 am along with comfortable dew pts in the 50s. Clear skies this morning will give way to sct to bkn cu/scu in response to mid level cyclonic flow combined with modest cool pool aloft. Nevertheless a real nice with temps climbing to 80-85 inland and 70s along the shore. Previous forecast captures these details nicely so only adjustment was to modify hourly temps and dew pts to better reflect current obs and trends. Earlier discussion below

. ================================================== ============== today...

Fantastic day under light nw-winds
. Such flow should allow for an sea-breeze around midday...so for those shoreline locations expect the warmest conditions just prior to the onshore flow off the ocean where water temperatures average around the mid- to upper-50s. Other than a few to scattered cumulus and perhaps some thin high- clouds filtering in round the lingering broad cyclonic flow /mainly across e-ne new england/ expecting a mostly clear day. A well-mixed boundary layer with h85 temperatures hovering +10-12c...should see highs around the low- to mid-80s across the interior...cooler along the shores with anticipated sea-breeze.

Central air has been on all day Cam!

Here are 3pm temperatures around the region. Everyone is in the lower to middle 80s at this hour. While it is warm and above the 30 year average for this date, temperatures are about ten degrees below records for this date (93-99). The record high for New York City on this date is 95 set in 1933!

Yeah.. isn't it amazing the difference from 70s and 80s? I thought the dewpoints would be higher (felt hot and supressed) but DPs only in the 50s. Big difference when temps are in 70s. Much more enjoyable.

It's WAY too hot out there. Drained and Migraine 2 days in a row. it's starting. :-(

Keep the humidity and give me the heat, and I'll be happy all summer long. Today was PERFECT. Any warmer and I'd merely be wishing for a steady, slight breeze, nothing more.

On last check, it was 85 with a dew point of 50 here in New Britain. I haven't heard a single person complain whatsoever!

Here's from NWS Boston for their 4 Climo Sites.

6th Coldest Spring in Hartford since 1905.
5th coldest for Worcester.

Below normal snowfall in all months.

Apparently never hit 0 before until this year

Averages for all months below normal

Are you sure the "never hit 0 in March in Hartford?" is correct? It seems to show that it's a record for March 1, not the entire month. But it's very possible, Hartford gets colder lows than NYC and I believe the only times NYC has been below the very upper single numbers (i.e. 8 or 9 degrees, for which it would probably be 1-5 degrees in Hartford) is pre-1900 (i.e. the day of the 1888 blizzard) and Hartford's records only go to 1905.

On the other hand I know there's a couple of post 1900 days where Albany, NY has been around -20 in March (for example, March 6, 1948) I can't imagine it was not subzero in Hartford then.

Actually, I stopped typing and decided to look it up, that 0 actually was the THIRD coldest March low ever in Hartford. It was -4 on that 1948 day I mention above and -6 (the March record) on March 19, 1967 (the latest in the year subzero in Hartford.....it also has significance as it is the last time it was below 10 degrees in Central Park in March (though Newark and the other NYC metro stations had one on the 1980 March 1 date that Hartford broke).

Good catch on the 0.

2003 BDL hit -6 in March. Wow. And mid month 6 below in 1967. That must of been something to experience.

Also good to note.. April was normal and May was above normal. March was deeply cold and that's part of the reason why soil was still cold in May and ice beefs still on Great Lakes in June.

Which was the good side of CT today? My high was only 64. About 10 below normal. Was in the 80s in Maine.
