Norfolk at 35 degrees. Not long before the snow falls there. Hope those folks in northern Litchfield County are ready.

Radar Loop. Lots of moisture out there.

37 in Waterbury now. Changeover happening in PA now. Snowing in Pittsburg and freezing rain as you move West. But we still have a many hours of rain here in CT

Friend just said there was mixed precipitation on 691 near Meriden. Said there was some sleet mixing in with rain. Not sure how true it is but he said there were ice pellets. Its possible. I think we change eover quicker. Down to 38 here in Branford.

That would be interesting. This is why we need ground troops telling us whats happening at the surface. I'm seeing temps still above freezing at all levels except its snowing in parts of Litchfield county now based on some tweets I saw.

It might just stay mixed sleet/rain for an hour or so until the layers get thick enough with below freezing temps above.

Probably a false report but who knows. You might know about this Cam but for others it is a very cool program. Its called mPing and you use your phone to report weather conditions. The information is very valuable to the NWS and other agencies.

Another snowfall map:

Tonight's Snowfall Forecast
By Quincy Vagell on December 6, 2013, 2:50pm

Quote:
Tonight: Rain, changing to snow from northwest to southeast. Lows in the low to mid-30s.
Saturday: Wet snow ending by 8 a.m. Daytime highs reaching the mid-30s to around 40.
.....

The most snow will fall across the higher terrain, especially northwest of I-84. There, the temperatures will be the coldest. Along the coastal plain, even down toward I-95, there could be a light accumulation of wet snow before precipitation ends first thing Saturday morning.
....

It will become very important to watch temperatures closely tonight and radar trends. It will only take a slight variation in temperature to alter the snowfall totals. With that said, there is fairly high confidence in the given forecast.

Rain later tonight is expected to change to snow before ending Saturday morning.

If growing you mean higher totals than yes since couple days ago. But Quincy's map is WAAY to light for northern CT. Less than 2 inches for BDL??

SPC concerning CT included now.

Storm Prediction Center Mesoscale Discussion 2069

0641 PM CST FRI DEC 06 2013

AREAS AFFECTED...ERN OH...PA...SRN NY...WRN MA AND CT...NRN NJ

CONCERNING...WINTER MIXED PRECIPITATION

VALID 070041Z - 070645Z

SUMMARY...AREAS OF HEAVY SNOW ARE EXPECTED FROM ERN OH INTO WRN AND
CNTRL PA THIS EVENING...WITH RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW FROM ERN PA INTO
SRN NEW ENGLAND. IN ADDITION...LOCALIZED FREEZING RAIN COULD OCCUR
ACROSS PORTIONS OF S CNTRL PA.

DISCUSSION...SUBSTANTIAL MOISTURE CONTINUES TO LIFT NWD ATOP A COOL
AIR MASS AT THE SURFACE AND IN ASSOCIATION WITH STRONG
FRONTOGENETICAL FORCING AS THE UPPER TROUGH NEARS.

SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS TEMPERATURES ONLY MARGINALLY BELOW FREEZING
OVER MUCH OF THE AREA...WITH WARMER PROFILES/RAIN FROM SERN PA INTO
NEW ENGLAND. MEANWHILE...TEMPERATURES WERE FIRMLY SUPPORTING SNOW
OVER OH AND INTO WRN PA. UPSTREAM HRLY QPF CURRENTLY SUGGESTS
SNOWFALL RATES AROUND 0.50 IN/HR. HOWEVER...HEAVIER PRECIPITATION
WAS OCCURRING IN LIQUID FORM NEAR THE ZONE OF 850 MB WARM ADVECTION
WITH HRLY RATES UP TO 0.25 INCHES.

WITH TIME...AS THE COLUMN COOLS...THE RAIN/SNOW LINE WILL ADVANCE
SEWD. THIS WILL ALSO TEND TO VEER 850 MB WINDS...WITH LESS QPF IN
THE COLDER AIR WITH TIME AND EWD EXTENT. THEREFORE...IT APPEARS THE
BEST SHOT AT HEAVY SNOW WILL BE ACROSS WRN AND CNTRL PA THIS
EVENING.

I agree. Maybe he was looking at his sources before the Winter Weather Advisories went out.

Edit: I also wont be posting any more radar pics as they are having too much trouble determining where the change-over is occurring.
