Sorry. I usually pride myself on my sarcasm detector. Guess it needs new batteries.

The Connecticut Rainy Day Fund is now approaching $3.1 billion. That’s really incredible. Now I just hope our leaders resist the urge to spend it like drunken sailors. Jay

Hopefully Lamont will have the right mix/balance of compassion with fiscal responsibility. I think he will and I believe he is (and has been) doing a good job on both counts. As an a centrist that is the mix I like to see.

It really is.
RE is hot as a pistol. $1M+ homes, not just the cheap stuff, are selling hand over fist. Covid is significantly down while the Rainy Day fund climbs. Direct deposits are still hitting bank accounts for most of the population. Folks are out spending on big money ticket items like boats and cars. Restaurants are packed.
CT is killin' it.

Was out to eat with my fiancé in downtown Hartford tonight. We sat on the patio of Trumbull Kitchen, a fair amount of folks eating outside at the restaurants open. Pratt street was hosting an outdoor gathering. Still quiet downtown but some signs of life.

So while the Lamont administration is projecting a significant deficit for the upcoming fiscal year that began a July 1st, the Rainy Day Fund is overflowing with more than $3 billion. It seems they are being overly pessimistic in their revenue projections amid the Covid-19 crisis. Interesting. I’m glad to see Lamont is being fiscally prudent. Let’s hope he can keep the Legislature from blowing it. Jay

I doubt that this site will remain vacant long, even in today’s brick and mortar retail environment. Jay

Infosys, the India based tech company, has committed to hiring 25,000 employees in the US, up from their previous commitment of 10,000. Infosys has a major hub in Hartford, has about 500 employees in our state and has committed to hiring 1,000 here over the next few years. It would be great if they hired even more. Jay
