Tax receipts accruing back to the just-completed fiscal year are running $200 million higher than expected. And based on that data, analysts also bumped expectations for 2020-21 tax receipts by $50 million.

Connecticut’s coffers also are swelling, however, because the Lamont administration spent hundreds of millions of dollars less than originally planned this fiscal year, and legislators have been pressing all summer for more details.

The budget routinely tasks the Executive Branch annually with achieving savings targets through attrition or other efficiencies. The savings goal for the just-completed fiscal year was $209.2 million in the General Fund, which covers about 90% of all operating costs in the overall budget.

The Lamont administration estimates it saved $544.1 million.

I wasn't able to access the whole Patch article but a Fox 8 story reports that the project would require a change in zoning and the Mayor fears that it will set a precedent for allowing change in zoning for the entire area near the mall. I don't know what the school capacity situation is in Milford, so that may be a concern.

But you're right - there's no new for new office space and what bio-tech firm is itching for space in Milford?

School capacity has been dropping and has been forecasted to drop more in Milford.

Personally I think it’s a fine proposal. Malls are unsustainable. I would like to see more apartments there and less in single family residential areas using that awful 8-30g law.

I dont think that's a good area for a luxury anything. If you are going towards old gate lane where the ducthes is it those old hotels host alot of prostitution. The truck stop there is the same way with females walking around knocking on drivers doors. Maybe if it was somewhere off of post road that will be OK but not near old gate lane in the area that they say
