As stated earlier in the thread, would I move to south FL solely to save on taxes? No, it’s not cheap enough to justify that move. Heck, northern VA is cheaper than south FL, believe it or not. But the original discussion was that south FL has a lower tax rate (regardless of reason or personal preferences), which you attempted to dispute without success. We can go on and on and on - but that doesn’t change the fact that when it comes to property taxes, FL residents are far less tax burdened.

And yes, I’ll take massive growth over a shrinking economy and horrific debt. I’d hope most would.

I question how long we sustain quality suburban education. The more GEExits, the more our GDP growth stagnates while costs of services rise.

We are not on a sustainable economic path.

We need leaders unafraid to attack that hard to face truth.

I think you’d be pleasantly surprised at how beautiful, well run and affluent Palm Beach County communities actually are. For the low tax rate, it’s an amazing place.
I have been there a number of times and there are some beautiful areas but it is also overbuilt, crowded and generally lacks character. I was not impressed. If you like miles of strip malls and tons of big box stores set in seas of asphalt, miles of dense tiny lot subdivisions and an almost fully car oriented environment, then it is fine. That is not for me. And again I am just not seeing this massive tax savings. Jay

There is no difference between the strip malls of many CT towns and the strip malls in FL, except the ones I’m familiar with in Palm Beach are far more well kept and not nearly as many vacant storefronts as in CT (and even VA).

I think I was very successful. I showed once again that when you compare comparable homes in comparable communities the taxes are not half as you claimed. They are not even close. Connecticut has its issues but states like Florida do too. We will see which does better in the coming years. Jay

I often feel like I live in vacant store Ct leader (Milford). US1 especially, west of mall, is sad sight.

Maybe we need the porn hops back to at least boost US1 occupation rate.

Again - cherry picking and second hand opinions are not what I’d call success. Statistics are. But we can agree to disagree on that until the next debate where Greenwich is again used as a tax comparison.

It’s not a contest - as a property owner, I want CT to succeed but unfortunately things keep getting worse and worse in the state. It’s quite disturbing.

Florida is not for me. You like it I love it!

My boyfriend is born and raised down there and he is not willing to move back there!

Since we are so focused on Florida, the latest polling in the gubernatorial race there has Andrew Gillum, a Democrat, in the lead.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...llum-6518.html

And he proposes raising the corporate income tax in FL.

Could be good for CT.

Explain how that is good for CT?
