Radar Loop from 11am - 12:45pm every 20 minutes.

Focus on 2 areas... Shelton...and Norwalk.

This should help you understand that a storm can have "local" downpours while nothing in another area.
Norwalk area is only cloudy with drizzle at times but Shelton getting some heavy downpours past couple hours.

Also note...might be hard to see, is that moisture is generally moving South to North but there isnt heavy moisture over the Long Island Sound or even Bridgeport but as soon as it gets to Shelton the rains coming pouring down.

There must be more instability there than points south for now. Cool stuff huh.

Yea, they always issue that after the growing season ends in late October. It's one less thing they have to do I guess - lol.

However, I do think it's not quite over for everyone - esp for some along the coast like me. I had no real frost damage on the 13th, and as of today my EE's and other things seem to still be growing. Normally they die off in early November. Also, I have a Windmill palm that is still pushing out fronds, and normally that stops after we get a week or two of sustined cold. So maybe I still have a week or two left before growth on it ends for the season.

I think the problem is that they generally delinate these things by county; and even when they split a county because they know there's a noticeable difference (I know that they zone split both Westchester and Fairfield into north and south) they often don't apply it only to one. Since Bridgeport and NYC didn't get to 32 or below, I would think that they would've applied this to only the northern zone of both counties.

Wow. Rained something fierce today, all day. Just when you think it would let up, it started right up again. I'm going to take issue with the meteorologists on the local stations - there was no mention in the forecasts about the intensity and duration of the rain today. I guess if there's no wind there's no hype, but it was pretty bad out there.

Going from the parking lot to my meeting in Danbury there was enough wind that it almost damaged my umbrella (about 11:30am if anyone wonders what time). I'd hardly call it "windy" but it certainly was "gusty" at times.
