To say it's 60s/70s in the south is a bit misleading most places on the map will be in the 50s. Only widespread 60s/70s I see is in FL.

Hope you have your blanket tonight, quite the cold one up there!

This might be one of the coldest mornings so far this November. Right near 30 's F along the coast, but in the 20's and even upper teens, in the higher elevations and points west:

Temps should warm to low/mid 40's by afternoon then 50's F in the coming days

Thanksgiving Storm Update:::

Overnight models agree on a Nor'Easter next week. GFS was before the Euro on this again. Nice job GFS (if this does actually happen). Image below is from GFS, Euro, and Canadian. Timing is different naturally this far out but confidence growing on this storm now.

Next we see if it continues to be shown, then we watch the track, then we figure out what precip type will fall.

Upton:
MODELS ARE SIGNALING PHASING OF NORTHERN STREAM AND SOUTHERN STREAM ENERGY BY MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK WITH POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT OF A COASTAL LOW APPROACHING THANKSGIVING DAY.

According to AccuWeather this morning...as far as next week:

"A small part of the Arctic air will break off and deliver the first freeze of the season to Seattle and Portland, Ore., Wednesday night.

Indications are the worst of the cold air will depart the Central and Eastern states by the middle of next week in time for holiday travelers. However, some rough cold air may linger from around the Upper Midwest to northern New England

So I think the only shot for any real snow would be in the Great Lakes and New England (Boston and northward). The NY/NJ/CT southward it would be all rain, if they are right.

Dangerous Cold Air Takes Aim at Midwest

In the short term....it looks to get milder in the next few days with highs back into the 50's F on the East Coast:

This will be a correct statement. Nice call. We will end up below normal for November. There is no real warmup coming. Seasonable at best, no warmth unless you call 40s and 50s warm.

So August, September and November will be below normal. Finally a change from all the above normal months.

Here's the temp anomalies for Sunday.

I think NOAA calls any month +/- within 1.5 F as “normal”

So June (normal +1.3)…..July (above normal +4.3 F)…..August (normal -0.3 F)….Sept (normal -1.0 F )…..October (above normal +2.8 F). So June, August, and Sept were normal….July and Oct were above normal. No month this year has been truly below normal (more than - 1.5 F).

November will likely end within the 1.5 F +/- range . There is no real cold air coming after this shot on Sunday, and next week storm is RAIN for the Tri-State. No snow anywhere in the forecast.

Warmer Thur/Fri:

I love this back & forth about next week's weather. I guess Mother Nature will have the last word, as always!

What it really is human against computer model.

One of us sides most of the time with the models....the other uses long term climo as the basic guide. It is very interesting = man vs machine.

Still, next week, is looking more and more certain: Any snow/wintery weather will be north of the Ct/NY/NJ area, meaning points north and northwest. Even the Euro is coming around to it now in there snow predications for Thur/Fri next week. Any winter weather stays north of the East Coast metro areas:
