This current watches and warnings map is just the beginning. I dont think we'll see Tornado threat in CT but it is possible. Flooding will be the common theme from now on..

Remember folks... "Flash Flooding" happens in a flash. You can be on the road during a downpour and a road will flood within minutes. So take the watches cautiously and the warnings seriously.

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...CENTRAL HARTFORD COUNTY IN NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...

* UNTIL 800 PM EDT

* AT 558 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE.. HARTFORD...WEST HARTFORD...WINDSOR LOCKS...SIMSBURY...BLOOMFIELD... WINDSOR...AVON...GRANBY AND EAST GRANBY. WITH A FOCUS ON THE NORTHERN SUBURBS OF HARTFORD.

With the .99" that fell today so far at Windsor Locks, CT BDL, it makes it the 2nd wettest June on record(since 1904). 3.53" away from 1st

Wasn't there also a large, late-year snow storm in 1982 as well? I think I remember you guys talking about it when the last late one hit this year.

Nice call. Had to look it up... 14.3" at BDL in April. Then nothing till Dec 1982 (5 inches)

Right now I got lightning in the distant.

You might be a bit young to remember it but it was actually a pretty epic snow for that time of year.....even Central Park recorded 9.6" and the Yankees game was cancelled with 13" measured at the Stadium.......a lot of Westchester school districts for the next few years padded Memorial Day weekend to be a 4 or even 5 day weekend to take days away in case it snowed after Easter break (until they realized this was a rare freak thing and their policies went back to reality......in CT that wouldn't happen because school districts tend to add excess snow days to the end of the school year to account for that).

Something epic must have happened in central/eastern New England in June, 1982 that I can't find that didn't happen as intensely outside the region, as I noticed it's not even in the top 10 Junes for CPK (I wish they had data on BDR to compare to see the regional transition, I probably could find if I look hard enough, but I'm lazy ). I found that Central Park "only" had 5.12 inches that June.

Try here. Just pick the year on the right.

BDR was only 2nd wettest with June 1982 with 11.54". 1st was 1972.
But yeah, 1982 seems like a big year for many

That's it? It rained very hard from 10-11pm and it was over. Radar is clear. did the models take into the account the almost due north track?
