Interesting. They announced this a while ago, I guess when they purchased the land, but I just assumed that they would retrofit the existing buildings. USC has been trying to emulate University of Texas with Innovista, so this is just another step in that direction. The most compelling outcome so far has been Duck Creek, an insurance software company that Accenture purchased a few years ago. I hope the new facility allows for an expansion of the pipeline.
I would like to see USC demolish the Byrnes Building and Cornell Arms apartment building on Sumter Street and develop a new college town type of downtown next to the Horseshoe.

Byrnes is going to be demolished (though it has not been scheduled yet), but USC doesn't own Cornell Arms to my knowledge. I wonder if they plan to buy it for aesthetic reasons? It's obvious that USC drafted the South Main plan, which likely involves the USC Development Foundation acquiring all of the land it can.

USC doesn't own the Cornell Arms Building and it is a good example of a MCM highrise; it better never be torn down.

No the Cornell Arms building is beautiful edition to our Skyline. I believe it shall stay. Now around it should be developed and the building itself should be renovated.
I like the Coliseum, and the Cornell Arms. Fix them up, and build around them.
