Well the good economy continues as the Pueblo Chieftain is reporting that the unemployment rate in Pueblo for September was down to 4.5%.

As I have been posting the Pueblo economy has been growing and now more numbers are coming out on the cities largest suburb to show how much. In my opinion this is mostly due to MJ and hemp and with 200 and 300 failing the next 14 years should see a lot more growth.

As 2016 draws to a close, it is proving to be the busiest year for the Committee of Architecture since 2008. Through October 2016, the Committee of Architecture has approved 130 building plans in the District—43 more than all of 2015, and they still have 21 more to review before the end of December.

The economy continues to improve and i am extremly optimistic for 2018.

This is from the Chieftain:

Home sales last month rose 11 percent by unit volume (228 vs. 205) and rose 8.4 percent by dollar volume ($36.6 million vs. $33.8 million) compared with October 2015, the group said.

Pueblo continues to see non MJ related companies growing too. Part of why i am so optimistic on the metro's future.

This is from the Chieftain:

One of Pueblo’s hidden industrial gems recently built its first railcars and is eyeing a $5 million expansion to get into the sector in a big way.

Under its five-year plan, Liberty Railway Services in Pueblo West also will continue repairing, refurbishing and repainting used and damaged railcars, general manager John Schroeder said. It also will continue to operate a mobile repair unit, he said.

Congrats to the Pueblo East Eagles for thumping Holy Family 41-21 tonight at Dutch Clark.

They were down 21-0 at one point, making me think their run for a three-peat was derailed.

Discovery Canyon is of course the favorite. They play Fort Morgan I think tomorrow.

The unemployment rate continues to drop as the Pueblo Chieftain is reporting it was 4.4% in October. I am really excited to see what the population growth will be for this year and what next year will bring!

So a Denver paper is claiming that Pueblo has grown 15,000 people this year. I hope they are right but I am not sure as that would mean the city would be up too 125,000 depending how many moved in the city versus suburbs and the county would be 180,000 people. The paper did say the city is now 120,000 people. I can say the traffic is getting worse on a monthly basis though and the vacancy rate went from the highest in the state to the lowest this year but I am not sure if that represents 15,000 people or not. It will be interesting to see what the official stats for 2016 are next year.

I think for 'official' stats you probably really have to wait for the next census in 2020.

Well if this report is true and the trend stays the same or increases due to MJ/ hemp it will be interesting to see what the city and county's (metro area) population is for the 2020 census.
