More good news for Pueblo aka the Marijuana valley. Especially when 4% is considered full employment.

Pueblo’s jobless rate dropped to 4.1 percent in December, matching its low point in the years before the Great Recession, according to December employment data released Tuesday.

1) Continued major growth in the marijuana/ hemp industries as Pueblo remains the marijuana valley.

2) Convention center and Riverwalk expansion and a new hotel to break ground. Possibly a second hotel by the baseball stadium.

I have been waiting years for this.

3) Parkview Medical Center builds one or two highrises.

They bought a lot of land on Santa Fe Ave in downtown. It would be nice to have highrises with a parking garage there.

4) Continued growth at CSU Pueblo. Especially as it relates to research in the new marijuana institute.

5) Continued success for PEDCO.

6) More medium size commercial projects start and highway widening projects continue (Highway 50 west and I-25 to 6 lanes).

This is what I have hear so far:

5 new major retail store going open next year and still waiting on 6th one to be confirm. Eagleridge estates going be expanding soon. Cdot will build a new office and will help north side grow more. Outlook ridge phase 2 going to start up.

7) Continue seeing all the economic indicators improve and the population grow at a increasing rate.

8) See the housing industry pick up with more houses and apartments. A few condo highrises in downtown would be nice.

9) CSU Pueblo football return to the playoffs and win a second national title.

Im always ready for this!

10) Pueblo's first sky scraper.

I define that as a building over 20 stories. Yes its a long shot but a life long dream of mine.

As I look over the list I mainly want to see the economic success Pueblo has seen in the past 2 years continue and improve.
Very exciting!

It is official. The city will annex the land north and east of the 47 (Pueblo's version of I-225 in Denver) and east of CSU Pueblo and west of the airport. It will be for residential, commercial and industrial uses. I like how finally CSU Pueblo will be surrounded by the city, been a long time coming and should help Thunder Village grow.

As a side note due to Doss aviation (the USAF pilot school) growing Pueblo's airport went from the top 50 in the number of takeoffs and landing in the nation to the top 10. Kind of cool for the little airport.

Pueblo's version of I-225?

Good one Joss.

On the left here, we got umm... DOGPATCH. On the right we got um... Aurora? No, there was a pig farm or something there, but it got tore down. No, we got dirt there. Is that Cherry Creek State Park? No... It's a tumbleweed. Is that the Tech Center? Well, sort of I guess. Boeing used to be there, Eupec, Trane! It's still there, sort of I guess.

What i mean is in Denver I-225 was the orginal highway that connected I-25 to I-70 long before E-470. In Pueblo the 47 connects I-25 to highway 50 and i use it on a daily basis. As a side note there are also plans for a bigger loop like C-470 and E-470 and i have seen the map of them but they are years away from being built. However they did start the highway 50 west bound expansion project from Pueblo to Pueblo West. It will take 1-2 years and be 3 lanes when complete.

Would it be a good idea for someone to buy and fix up a home and retire in Pueblo.

While i love Pueblo i understand it is not for everyone. So my advise is to come out spend some time and see if Pueblo is the type of town you like. Then if it is look for a house to buy.
