Port City Java opened on the Hill last year and another Starbucks opened in the new Student Center....I'm sure that competition was too much. Would like to see something like Buzz open up in one of the commercial spaces at the Lofts or Boundary.
A staple community event in uptown Greenville is canceled to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
Uptown Greenville officials announced PirateFest will be canceled. The event was scheduled for April 17 and 18.
The city says they are following the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention to cancel all events larger than 50 people over the next 8 weeks.
"While we are saddened that we will not be able to produce this amazing community festival, we know the safety of our citizens, vendors, and entertainers are the priority. We are already planning for 2021, and transferring our efforts to making next year's festival the best yet," said Executive Director of Emerge Gallery and Co-Producer of PirateFest Holly Garriott.
The 15th annual PirateFest is scheduled for for April 9 and 10 of 2021.
Not much to report here since the COVID-19 deal, but I did notice today that a Sheetz is going up at the intersection of Greenville Blvd & 14th Street and they have finally put a sign up indicating that another carwash is going back where Adams was (which I believe was previously stated up here).
Surprised we haven't seen any pics of either the BioMed Building on 10th/Evans or the Jolly Roger complex on 14th and Charles...two major projects for downtown.

The gas station at Blvd & 14th is a Family Fare BP.
yeah - I noticed the other day it's going to be a BP and not a Sheetz. Meh.
