I recently spoke with someone in the "know" about downtown Ayden. You can believe me, they desperately want to fix it up. It comes down to an issue of money though. I mentioned something about fixing up that potentially beautiful building called The Bank Of Ayden. The person acknowledged that the building is well worth rehabbing and could make a nice cornerstone for a revamped Ayden. The owners had a pile of cash and were working towards it but apparently there were some serious foundation and basement issues that sucked up all of that money.

The person also agreed with me that aside from the bank building and a couple of others, that there wasn't much else there worth saving. They would desperately love to get that old gas station off of that corner. That is driving them nuts and there have even been discussions at town meetings about the gas station and ways to get rid of it.

Money talks and... well you know the rest.

The area near 10th and Evans towards Cotanche still is being cleared. Anyone know what is going on? The ECU master plan has a building going there. But it seems a little early to clear for that. Any thoughts?

Automax and Elite Preowned (old Saturn dealer) are both closed now.

A new creamery and coffee shop is opening downtown on June 11th called The Scullery. It looks like they will also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and do catering. It appears the owners have been doing catering for awhile and decided to open their own place. This is the building on the corner of 5th and Evans that faces Starlight Cafe. They have been regularly updating their facebook page at The Scullery - Restaurant/Cafe - Greenville, North Carolina | Facebook

Cheddar's is very nice in the inside. I don't want to ruin the treat for anyone, but I would strongly suggest just walking in and taking a small peak around. It's def. one of the nicest restaurants in Greenville (architecturally), lets just hope it will be food wise too.

I went on their site and looked at the menu & locations and was surprised at how many locations their was. I'm surprised I've never ate at one before.
