I would love to see a pedestrian bridge across the Tar River...I think it would be HUGE for River Park North. If I could park at the Town Commons & walk / bike over there I'd do it in a heartbeat. Currently having to drive out there impedes the amount of people who utilize it.
Of Note: does anyone know what is being developed across the street from the Wal-Mart on Hwy 43? Lots of activity going on over there now. Is it residential or more business development?
I heard someone mention that it may be a Zaxby's. Not 100% sure.
I agree that a bridge would make it a lot more accessible. If they're going to do this I think if would make sense to make it bike friendly. It just makes sense to allow more active people more access to a park for them to run and bike.
Absolutely should bike friendly. Don't half arse it. If you're going to spend the money do it right the first time. It would be nice if they took the time to make it a feature, a land mark for the city. I have often thought they should do something with the Pitt/Green St Bridge to make it more iconic. Some artful railings and or lighting.
Regarding your EPIC comment, yes Vidant IS in control of EPIC, and there are ECU employees who could improve the system for everyone if they are provided access to it BY Vidant. I think that's what the other comment was saying.
Alan & Carol Ann's Casino tours to Harrah's & Ceasar's in Atlantic City will now be flying out of PGV starting in November. The reason quoted was due to the government defederalizing of the Kinston Airport. There are a lot of casino charter flights out of Kinston. Wonder if all the other flights will move to PGV. Does anyone know what the ramifications of this defederalizing of Kinston Airport will entail? About the only business they had left were the casino charter flights. Is this yet another hit on Kinston? What effect will this have on the Global Transpark?

Sounds like it would effect commercial flights. Likely that "charter" flight, if regularly scheduled is really a small commercial operation.
Would think Kinston would still have plenty of charters, large ones like football teams, and also have the industrial uses that the Transpark was built for. There is no reason to have commercial traffic going through Kinston, with airports in New Bern and Greenville within a half hour drive.

Thanks, I understood the comment bichonanddon - I was simply correcting the viewpoint. As I said - I work within the organization that deals directly with the design and development of Epic software. ALL activity around design and development is done with multi-organizational teams and governance groups deciding the optimal features, workflows, etc. to implement. There is no trump card. Trust me. Early on, Vidant was solely responsible for the design - it was live for almost 4 years before ECU decided to go with Epic as well. So there were early decisions ECU would have had no control over. But the system has been redesigned since 2005. For instance - the ambulatory side, which is the only part affecting ECU, clinically, recently completed an almost 2 year standardization. This essentially ensured that all clinics - regardless of who you are, get the same tool set based on specialty. ECU and Vidant Medical Group were both at the table and integrally involved in this redesign.
Now - if there is a difference of opinion on a key option, Vidant might have slightly more of a voice due to a considerably higher investment in the product but I can tell you that that is a rare occurrence.
