Default Cleveland apartment skyscrapers scheduled to begin construction soon

City Club Apartments are expected to begin construction within weeks. The 23-story apartment complex on Euclid Ave. downtown will have lower ceilings than those at the recently built Lumen and Beacon apartment skyscrapers. It apparently also will significantly reduce downtown parking capacity.

The Artisan also will begin construction shortly in University Circle. It's also a 23-story that will become the tallest building in University Circle, but apparently also will have lower ceilings than the units at One University Circle.

According to the above article, vacant office floors at the New England Building, which mainly houses the Holiday Inn Express on Euclid Ave., will be converted to apartment units.

Default Cleveland to tally seven new office towers within 5 years?

The long-delayed NuCLEus may begin construction by year-end, and may once again be built as a 50-story tower. Additional floor space needs by the Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan, and Aronoff law firm, the key tenant may bolster the size of the currently planned 25-story building.

The Cleveland Clinic is expected to build a skyscraper to house its 500,000 square foot Global Center for Pathogen Research & Human Health.

Other new towers may include a replacement for the Justice Center, and new headquarters buildings for Cleveland Cliffs, the McDonald Hopkins law firm, and Rocket Mortgage. The Public Square Sherwin Williams office complex is nearing finalization and construction.

Rising interest rates and a stagflationary depression, such as anticipated by Nouriel Roubini, may derail one or more of these anticipated developments. Of course, the expectation of higher financing rates and an inflationary spike in construction costs may encourage rapid advancement of projects. Unfortunately, higher interest rates and cost of construction materials already are taking place.

Hopefully, the fiscally conservative Sherwin Williams won't scale back its plans given the inflation now rampant in the construction industry.

Easiest solution...tear down the old, rebuild the new on the same site. Done.
You have it backwards. The NFL put it a strict 3-year deadline on building a new stadium. The city/county didn't have sufficient time to find a new location and undertake the necessary eminent domain cases needed to acquire the land on which to build a new stadium away from the lakeshore.

<<On February 9, 1996, the NFL announced that the Browns would be 'deactivated' for three years, and that a new stadium would be built for a new Browns team>>

I've read elsewhere that the NFL as part of the settlement agreement contributed $43 million to the cost of building the new stadium.

Unfortunately, the new Browns Stadium (now FirstEnergy Stadium) used the existing wood piles, seeming a concession to not only save money, but likely require the building of a new stadium in a better location several decades later in time.

I remember all of this quite well, but surprisingly can't find anything online verifying this. Even using the existing site, the new stadium was barely finished in time to begin play for the 1999 season, as required by the city's settlement with the NFL. The NFL paid

Pretty cool. If the Metroparks and ODOT are together on this, it might actually happen. The old lakefront First Energy power plant may have been the first domino to fall in realizing a true lakefront park from Edgewater to the d i k e 14 nature preserve. Lets hope it doesn't take 20 years.

I would, if the price was right. I consider the entire city my living room anyway, and don't like to be home much, so just need a place to flop. But some of these micro apartments are ridiculously expensive. Don't have a link right now, but I read in the Free Press that some developer is planning micro apartments on West 14th Street in Tremont to be rented for $1,500-$1,600 a month. Why would anyone...?
