This might be a huge shock to you, but the majority of Cleveland's income tax base doesn't live in the city. By your logic, isn't it more important to keep them happy?

The problem with your kind of complaint is that it isn't based in a whole lot of realism. Development is the key to Cleveland's long term future. In order to lure things like the RNC, the NCAA, national events, global medical conventions, out of town students, etc., development and supporting infrastructure is absolutely imperative. Insinuating that all expense of development be spared until every other infrastructure issue meets everyone's satisfaction is just silly (not to mention, wholly unrealistic). Where do you think most of the money comes from in the first place?

I'm not saying that the situation shouldn't be improved, but one just doesn't halt development because a winter storm was a pain in your ass and streets have pot holes.
One question, when E 9th, one of the 2 roads that connect downtown to the waterfront isn't being kept in good repair, what sense does it make to build another brand new connection to the lakefront? Why not just fix up what's existing? I know you disagree with this, but while the pedestrian bridge is architecturally cool, the city shouldn't be spending $10 million just to make something that looks cool, when there are better, more economical and practical solutions to the problem.

All development is not good development, and while I support the city's efforts to attract new businesses and develop downtown, it has to be done smartly and rationally. We've seen what happens when it's not -- we get a $300 million stadium on prime lakefront land that's used 10-15 days out of the year.

How many potholes around the city could be fixed w/ that $10 Million?

Love it. There's been a statue or Rocky in Philly for how long? About time the Man of Steel settles down in the city he was born
