If Spiderman was in any other city than New York, he would run out of room and become roadkill!

Sao Paolo, Mexico City, Tokyo...

He could find other places. While NYC has the largest US skyline, many people don't believe it has the best skyline.

I hate to say this, but the city's skyline took a huge hit when the World Trade Center collapsed, as those two massive towers provided a nice contrast when set against the other generally uniform buildings that comprised the skyline (damn terrorists!)

This photo tells the story the best. Yes, there are tons of large buildings, but only a select few draw your attention from the rest of the "maddening crowd." In a rush to be the city with the most skyscrapers, New York City became a city where sheer quantity trumped aesthetic quality.

Once again this image unimpresses me. There really isn't a single skyscraper in this photograph that "wows" me. Why? The buildings are so cluttered that it's hard for one or two to capture your attention.

Here's another case of this "crowding" not leading to much creativity or drama in a skyline. Perhaps one or two buildings here draw my attention (especially that glass-fronted one on the right-hand side of the image), but overall I find those other cities I posted to have much higher quality skylines due to the depth and variety in architectural styles, as well as the surrounding setting. No offense, but I would hardly call Northeastern NJ as scenic as Mt. Rainier, the Puget Sound, or Mt. Washington.

Maybe with bad pictures

I think New York without doubt is above all other skylines. Tokyo, Hong kong, Sau Paulo, Whoever you want to compare it to. Remember New York has been creating there skyline for over 100 years. It has a great mix of arcitechture both old and new, goth and sheek. In my eyes, Hong kong, Tokyo, Dubai, dont come close. This is my opinion and you are entitled to yours as well.

In terms of volume, I would have voted for NYC, but I didn't. I voted on what the city did with their skyline. Chicago takes a lot of punches on these forums, mainly from Houstonians, but there is no doubt in my mind that it is probably the best skyline in the nation, and probably ranks among the best in the world.

Just because NYC stretches, doesn't mean its attractive. I'd like NYC if it were more diverse. In the Chicago skyline, you have art-deco and modern. They flow perfectly together.

And with the Trump Tower finished, the city is even more appealing.

Tallest Buildings in the nation:

Sears Tower Chicago, IL
Trump Tower Chicago, IL
Empire State Building New York City, New York
Bank of America New York City, New York
Aon Center Chicago, IL
John Hancock Chicago IL

I only added the hancock because its like 10 ft shorter than the Aon.

No one ever downs Chicago's skyline, I'd even rank it above Houston at that.

I've never gotten tired of seeing our skyline in my entire life. Whenever I'm on the bus riding over the Triborough bridge to/from work, I always have to take a long look at our beautiful skyline.

Please people, post smaller pictures. It takes a long time to load each page.

Are you kidding me. NYC is way more diverse than Chicago. You need to do more research before you make your acusations. NYC has the largest collection of individual, free-standing office and residential towers in the world. We have art deco, goth, modern, post modern, post war, etc. And please it took you guys long enough to get up to the height of us.
Ur list of tallest buildings is off. Why did you only name the top 6 and why not the top 10. Anyway you said by what they did with thier skyline so we are getting way more buildings that are architectually better and tall.

We are getting more tall buildings than a any city in the Country Especially Chicago.

Fredoom Tower 1,776 ft
Madison Square Garden Tower 1 and 2 1,400 ft
2WTC 1,350 ft

Manhattan West Tower 1,216 ft
