^ no. Exterior braising was not first done the John Hancock Building i beleive
Maybe not but it's safe to say the Hancock is the most famous example of it. When the photo was opening and I said to myself "Is that the Hancock?" I figure that's a strong sign of Hancock influence, doncha think?
^ I don't feel the same way. JHC maybe the most famous example of it but that does not mean its the source of influence for all buildings with cross braising
anyway though the greatest building out of all of those is the Tour de Verre
That's my favorite tower going up in NYC.
I've been checking out all of the new designs of highrises and supertalls going up around the world and for a long time NYC seemed to lack in originality. I like a lot of the new projects going up in the city though. It seems like NYC is finally starting to focus on its aesthetics.
^^But NY's skyline is a lot bigger than Chicago's. I'd rather have that than a few very tall buildings.
Chicago's skyline is not small by anybody's standards. Highrises stretch for miles from Hyde Park all the way to the Northern suburb of Evanston. The loop isn't the only part of the city with very tall buildings.
