Statistically the destruction of Fort Mims Alabama by the Creek Indians in 1813 was a far worse disaster than 9/11. 500 Americans, mostly civilians including women and children were killed at a time when our population was a little over 7,200,00.

Just because NYC stretches, doesn't mean its attractive. I'd like NYC if it were more diverse. In the Chicago skyline, you have art-deco and modern. They flow perfectly together.

And with the Trump Tower finished, the city is even more appealing.

its funny how people think if you have quantity, you automatically lose quality. Please, New York is imo, the first in quality. And Its skyscrapers and architecture as just as, if not way more, diverse as Chicago's. Chicago's beautiful and all, but just because it has the tallest buildings doesn't mean its the best. (plus Trump isnt actually completed yet!)

New York architecture is hardly more diverse than Chicago's and many astute students of architecture make the argument that the quality of Chicago architecture is the finest in the nation. I'm not qualified to have much of an opinion on that but the point of view is out there.

The Trump building isn't finished but it's topped.

Both cities impress me and no other cities do. Except LasVegas which is impressive in it's sheer brass and gaudiness.

If that were the case, why wouldn't New York, Washing D.C, and Pennsylvania be at war with Afghanistan instead of the whole country? Probably because we are one nation, undivided . What happens to you in New York, has the same effect on me here in Chicago, and I mean on a national level of course.

But the whole sympathizes for NYC is crap, its the new race card. You can't say anything about NYC because of 9/11, and I don't mean this about you necessarily so don't get defensive about it, but I'm just saying some New Yorkers use 9/11 as an excuse.

An excuse for what?

Rachael has brought up a good question there, Spire. An excuse for what? Do you think that New York has gotten anything in particular out of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center? Because if you think so, I'd appreciate very much if you could tell me what it is; I'm a native-born New Yorker, and I have yet to see any advantage this city has accrued.

Lol, yeah. I would say so. Especially the 22 buildings 600-700ft tall in NYC.

Chicago has a great skyline, but come on, it's not NYC.

(and my opinion is completely unbiased because I could care less)
