Everything I said is Chicago culture. Look it up...Chicago culture. If you call Chicago a cultureless wasteland...then just about every city in the US is a cultural wasteland.

Why are you talking about Los Angeles?

I like how people try to say someone is wrong on this thread for saying something else. I've looked over other polls and Chicago has ALWAYS been killing L.A in them.

You DO know culture is defined in millions of ways.

Best definition for this forum: "Culture is symbolic communication. Some of its symbols include a group's skills, knowledge, attitudes, values, and motives. The meanings of the symbols are learned and deliberately perpetuated in a society through its institutions."

Music, sports, language are all part of culture. Perhaps you want to define what "culture" means to you...and see how you apply it to ur favorite city...New York.

We are not the most cultured nation in the world....

Anyways, Libohove, I can't argue with you. Can't explain to you in a short post what culture is and how New York and LA cultural institutions differ from Chicago's. There is a good reason that the only Chicago cultural institutions known to the world are Oprah, Springer and Playboy. Maybe CSO to some. Yes, the city is defined by stay-home-diva, circus freak and a pornographer. Wow. Now put this in perspective with New York and LA contributions and you have your answer.

And weather alone is enough to make some people want to live somewhere, provided the place isn't a total hellhole in other ways.

Only if you consider density a good think. Being originally from Brooklyn I respect LA for being something different than New York and not another poor's man version of New York like Chicago.
LA offers totally different lifestyle than New York and while it is very "oriental" for me I could find myself living in Florida or California at some point in life. Moving to Chicago however seems like going down the ladder.
