What is NY the best at?
Not this again.

Most expensive (desirable) place is SF Bay area
Unfortunately, you're wrong.

According to the in-depth NAHB/WellsFargo Housing Opportunity Index which calculates cost of living per metropolitan region (housing prices, taxes, etc.), New York is the most expensive region in the United States (top half of the graph = most affordable US regions, bottom half = most unaffordable US regions. If most expensive means most desirable, then NYC is certainly most desirable.

These darn fact just keep getting in the way of your arguments right?

Best healthcare is in Boston
Sure.

Most historic is Philly and Boston
Define historic.

Culture... as far as music and tv goes NY's best days are definitely behind it Jay Z? Alicia Keys? total jokes
Yes, NYC is still seen as the cultural capital of the United States. Not only is it the capital of fashion, and arts, NYC is the trendiest city in the United States. If we want to star naming pop icons, the biggest thing in pop music right now is Lady Gaga. Where does she live? Where is she from again? The biggest/richest names in Hip Hop? I think you know the answer. Where do they both live? Hmmm, yep...that dreaded New York.

Which is why Hollywood producers still make NYC the most desired backdrop for their films. It's what everyone wants to see.

New York City: 7,855 Film titles
Los Angeles: 4,372 Film titles
Boston: 1,198 Film titles
Chicago: 2,535 Film titles
San Francisco: 2,934 Film titles
Austin: 1,001 Film titles
Philadelphia: 1,180 Film titles

LA owns NY in pop culture and music
No. Not really.

Quote:
Wash. DC has better arts and culture per capita
LOL. No, snap back into reality. There is a reason why New York has the most and highest concentration of art galleries in the world. There is a reason why NYC host the most "top 20" museums of any city in the world. Fine art is firmly planted in New York and it will remain that way much to your dissatisfaction.

SF has better restaurants (food scene)
Hah, tell that to Food & Wine, Michelin, and San Pelligrino.

You guys may have Wall St.. which is the center of America's financial woes so I guess NY is number one at trying to destroy the American economy
Why thank you

NYC derangement syndrome is a funny thing to witness.

Wow, only one possible decent response of all the points you tried unsuccessfully to make?

NY derangement syndrome... that is a good one. You really believe it I bet

.
Actually NYC is the cultural capital of western civilization... including North/South America as well as Europe. It is in the same breath as Rome, Paris, and London before it... as I explained in my two previous posts on page 5. I think the only arguments would be for parts of the arab world and some of the less progressive asian world.

I agree with the rest of your posts also.

News Headlines

This is the real Creative Capital of the world

The funny thing is, only 15 yr olds who spend the rest of the time playing warcraft living in their parents homes in NYC talk like they have been on this thread

No mature cultured and traveled NY'er acts or talks like that

Ok i dont know where you got your numbers but I'm a filmmaker and I have some more realistic numbers:

New York City : 6,847
New York State : 8,424
Texas : 1,718
San Francisco : 1,386
Los Angeles : 10,469
California : 18,467

And one more thing...you are aware that even if the show or film takes place in NY it was probably filmed in Los Angeles. Despite being the most expensive city to film in it is the number one city for filming. The new Spider-man film takes place in NY but it was shot in LA

Interesting, but nothing to do with the topic. Next.

Also can you provide a source if you are going to critique other sources. I am extremely skeptical, given the boorish nature of your previous post history.

It has by far the richest celebrity population.

Global city - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Actually the bolded is philadelphia but the premis of the Op to me is ill concieved, NY is all that and more. Sure Harvard is the best school, or more celebs may live in Hollywood, more oil produced in Houston, Tech in the bay etc. But at the of the day all of these are significantly influenced from NY and mostly is a center of all the categories anyway. The size and offerings of NYC are amazing but the power is derived from one thing. MONEY - which is its forte

They did film NYC parts of the new Spiderman in New York City actually. However, the indoor scenes were shot in LA.

Last Spiderman movie was shot in LA, NYC, and Cleveland.

I don't consider NYC overrated. It's an incredible city. I personally don't find it to be to my liking at this point in my life, but one's circumstances in life make some places less desirable than others.

What I find pathetic are those NYers who claim the city is great because Jay-Z is there.
