1/2 Berlin was communist East Germany just 20 years ago while NYC was, to use the language of the ghetto which seems to be the more generally accepted language over standard american english on c-d lately, $tr8 ballin. Sorry Berlin, order yourself another currywurst and sit down, you aren't NYC, or even close.

Berlin is not New York, but its a very genteel, cosmopolitan and trendy place these days.

I love it there, as with many cities in Germeny.

But alas your last statement is true, Berlin is not New York.

Aside from the size advantage and all that, there is an energy in New York and concentration of amenities that is virtually unmatched by anywhere in the world imo.

For sure, I've been to Berlin once, Munich once, Frankfurt 3x and several other cities. They just pale in comparison to NYC. Berlin would be more on the level of Boston or something.
Euro cities have 2 things going for them over U.S. cities in general, history, and low crime.
