It has nothing to do with black people moving away from black people. There are other cities in America besides Atlanta and DC that blacks can prosper in. Why on God’s green earth with the condition of Atlanta's economy would it be the best location for black Americans? I guarantee both DC and Atlanta will be number 1 & 2 for black Americans when the new black enterprise rankings come out.

I truly agree with this. As soon as Houston, Dallas, or even Charlotte are mentioned to a black person to move to, they get bashed because their black culture isn't on par with Atlanta's or DC's. I feel like we as blacks need diversity and need to hang around people of different races to help decrease our crime rate. But no, we want to continue to move to Atlanta and DC raising their crime rate, and then have the nerve to complain to about what those cities haven't lived up to. We need to think for ourselves and move somewhere that benefits us individually. I think threads like this are misleading and are full of BS!
Well make a thread suggesting black people not live around each other because we only commit crime together. You should make your case there.
Funny thing is I mentioned the exact three cities as better places for blacks, and I'm the one who gets called an uncle tom and someone who hates their heritage. Well sorry if I would rather live in a city where there's on 25% percent of blacks but 80% of blacks are middle class and above than a city that's 50% black but has a 80% poverty rate amongst the black population.

This is true.I lived in Osh Kosh Wisconsin and could easily have stayed there if it were not for the winters.I believe the town was about only 5% black!The people were the friendliest with a low crime rate and great schools and faily progressive.
Well I'm not as familiar with Chicago and the distribution of its Black population, but there have been many positive contributions to the Black community that have come out of Chicago.
The wealth for African Americans is mostly concentrated in the suburbs of those cities, which is pretty much the same case for Whites in many major metro areas as well. The only difference would be those "old money" wealthy White neighborhoods in the city proper, but those kinds of neighborhoods don't really exist for Blacks because we were not afforded the opportunity to build wealth generationally until rather recently. But look at the longstanding political leadership in both cities, which has had Black faces for a while. Look at the business leadership as well. Look at the numbers of Black millionaires in both metro areas. Look at the progressive Civil Rights history in Atlanta. No city is going to be utopia for Blacks or any other race, but a few cities do stand out due to certain factors and Atlanta and DC are two of those main cities here.
New Orleans,New York and Atlanta have had communities with generational wealth.Of course with Atlanta it was for a shorter period of time than the others.Of course with that is on a smaller and shorter scale than there white counterparts,but it is there on a noticeable lever.
Atlanta has had "Sweet Auburn",the later Peyton Forest,and Colier Heights,The Cascades.The fact that so many HCBU's that date back to 1880's are to be factors for sure.The second oldest black newspaper,the second oldest insurance an one of the oldest black owned bank
How long will this trend last? Will blacks see that these cities aren't the only cities they (we) can get wealthy or do well in? Why do people always bold these two cities in our face when we feel like moving to a city to better ourselves? This irks me. Do one know that blacks are jealous of each other when we better than one another? That's one reason why Atlanta and DC have high crime rates. We, along with other races, kill each other over things that each other have that we want. It's not fair that people have to always group us in place where we are the majority and feel like we can be successful. Like us do research for ourselves; sometimes, people's opinions mess us up. We should be encouraged to move other places for a breath of fresh air. I know we can think for ourselves, but when some of us are coming from places where our lives were pure hell, we become susceptible to people's opinions and roll with the punches. I'm just saying...........
Dude, what the hell are you talking about? Where did you EVER see me say that Black folks should only move to certain cities? You're arguing against something that I, nor anyone else in this thread, ever said. And I seriously wish you would stop acting like you're so concerned about the Black community in these endless diatribes since everybody knows you're just bitter that Atlanta is in a much better position than any city in Alabama. Get over it dude, because we're sick of hearing it.

This is ABSOLUTELY false and I challenge you to find a post where this has occurred. I previously resided in Charlotte and heard no such thing whatsoever. Stop making up lies dude. Like I said, you're just bitter that nothing in Alabama is even remotely close to Atlanta. Get a life.
