Well, then you should believe God:

Lamentations 3:22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end

Congratulations. Do you know who declared the love of the Lord never ceases?

That is to those who love God by obeying Him.

Psalm 91:14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

1 Corinthians 2:9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him—

It's been my experience that many universalists have the habit of selectively quoting both Scripture and the Church Fathers, while ignoring the greater context. Then, when their error is pointed out to them they simply double down on it. Universalism is their first principle; the given by which everything else must be measured.

Loving God our heavenly Father begins with Him.

We love Him because He first loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

We saw him with our very own eyes. We gazed upon him and heard him speak. Our hands actually touched him, the one who was from the beginning, the Living Expression of God. This Life-Giver was made visible and we have seen him. We testify to this truth: the eternal Life-Giver lived face-to-face with the Father and has now dawned upon us. ~TPT

Excellent points. What you said is a good description for understanding what they do and why.

God loves His creation, the world.
So that is God loving "us" as in us in general.

John 14:31 but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up, let us go from here."

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

God doesn't even know you personally unless you obey Him.

1 Corinthians 8:3 But whoever loves God is known by God; and 2 John 1:6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.

1 John 2:4 Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.
