I kind of want to make a segregation/integration heatmap of Chicago using this data (and the rest of the tracts).

It would be, in a hypothetical world where the Black % wasn't in single digits in nearly all of those tracts.

It's well known and understood that segregation in the U.S. means Black/White segregation. There isn't a great deal of segregation between White, Asian, and Hispanic people.

Read the OP. That is, in fact, the argument that the whole thread is based on.

for the record places like Avondale and Irving Park have that mix. Please dont be so ignorant. They have yuppies, immigrants, hipsters etc.maybe you should visit those hoods some time..
Actually I don't live in Texas, and never did. I considered it at one point, but never moved there. I grew up in the suburbs and now live in LA.

I like walkable neighborhoods with all kinds of local eclectic stuff. But reality is, there are places like coffee shop chains, and natural food chains which are a clear indicator, of improving neighborhoods.

I like the houses in Old Irving Park. Maybe things have changed, but for the longest time, Avondale was a port of entry for Poles that couldn't afford to live anywhere else. Perhaps you're right, maybe when I'm visiting for the holidays, I will take a visit.

Well I think there's a lot more Hispanic segregation than there is Asian. Speaking of some more stuff, my source has something for languages spoken in these areas. It counts people who are older than 5 and shows how many people speak something other than English at home. Here's how it ranks by percentage. Chicago as a city is 35.33% (meaning over 1 in every 3 people in Chicago speaks something other than English at home):

Gage Park | 85.7%
Brighton Park | 83.43%
Hermosa | 82.42%
Belmont Cragin | 80.39%
Lower West Side | 77.78%
Archer Heights | 76.59%
South Lawndale | 76.47%
West Elsdon | 76.32%
Albany Park | 71.17%

Seriously define to me what a Prime neighborhood is? What is the criteria for that?
Well, yes and no. There are many examples where the wealthiest parts of some cities are a lot more diverse than Chicagos counterparts. Perfect example: Beverly Hills is probably majority Persian now, (along with more established "WASPs" and Jews that have been there a couple generations.

Technically Beverly Hills isn't part of LA, it is its own city, but anyway That is a good example..though they must be counted as "white" because Beverly Hills is still over 80% white.

Basically the most diverse neighborhoods in Chicago have a heavy "port of entry" feel, where fairly recently arrived immigrants who have few resources to move elsewhere, but do once they are able to.

I think this is true for some for sure, although there are many who skip the city all together and will go to the burbs. However, there is a newer generation which is the opposite of that. They are the more educated class coming to the city to work good jobs. I have made friends with a number of people like that - most are from Asia and Europe, though I have a few friends from Mexico and South America in the same boat. A few from the Middle East as well. They are choosing to reside in the more yuppified areas like Near North Side, Loop, West Loop, South Loop, some parts of Lakeview (mainly LVE), Wicker Park/UK Village, etc.
