But not the vast majority in Proco's ward.

Funny enough, there are Starbucks at 2577 N Elston and 2656 N Elston (inside Target), and a Panera at 2310 W Logan - Corner of Elston and Logan. All right by Home Depot (2570 N. Elston).

Heard this on the radio today, so Chicago alderman don't want Wal Marts and Chick-Fli-A and they don't want fast food places or chicken joints on the south side because we all know if there is no wal mart or chicken places in the city no one will travel to the suburbs for them. Just another way of politicians telling us what we should be eating, how much we should be eating, what size our soda is, what kind of light bulb we can have and how many gallons of water our toilet uses and how much water our showers put out. Next thing is they will be telling us how cold we should be keeping our central air in our houses.

And I get S--------- for making this thread?:

Walker's Point, Milwaukee is now Chicago? Really?

Arbitrary city limits matter, and the arbitrary districts drawn inside the city matter, especially in Chicago. A new Chick-Fil-A opening in Downer's Grove or Buffalo Grove doesn't give anyone pause. A new WalMart in Schaumburg won't make "news".

I have to put up with Chicago's Alderman system and all the rules and dumb things they may or may not say and do. What one dude in Logan Square says about C-F-A doesn't have ANY BEARING AT ALL on Milwaukee... or Wisconsin... or Indiana...

The particular person I quoted may have deep connections to Chicago (previous residence, family, business operations, etc.), but as far as I can tell, has no dog, nor cat, or even a hamster, in this debate.

Less than 2.7 million people have to deal with the implications of what this Alderman has said and intends to do. 6.3 million people won't be effected by the decision one iota.

The dollar volumes for drive thru locations are much greater than the walk-up type locations. Panera is on big push to add /relocate to such locations as is Starbucks.

I almost sympathize with folks that don't want the congestion, but that stretch of Elston is basically so far gone to the "dark side" of car centric development that Moreno needs a wedge to get folks in his corner and this works on a lot of levels...

I love the fact that the people posting on this thread who either live in the 1st Ward, or close to it, support Moreno and most of the people who are outraged by this don't even live in the city. If Chick-Fil-A wants to open new stores in Illinois they should do it in the suburbs where they belong. Logan Square has plenty of small businessmen opening restaurants all over the place, we don't need a national chain to come in to create jobs.

Chick-Fil-A is currently trying to expand nationally, and I think they're going to run into a lot of problems during this expansion. They are well known as being almost cultish, and have faced a large number of employment discrimination lawsuits based on religion that they've had to settle out of court. As they expand outside of the Bible Belt they're going to find that daily prayer meetings and interview questions about a person's faith in Christ aren't going to go over very well in most of the country.

He should also toss out all the muslim restaurant owners in that case as they are also against homosexuality.

He is either a giant hypocrite or frighteningly stupid.
I think it is certainly possible that he holds the title to both assertions; just my opinion.
