If you ever want a good laugh and some good insight into the mind of Pete, go to the stand one day, pick up a jar of their house-made hot sauce that they sell, and read the warning label. It's a riot.

Jimmy's in the city. Pete's in Lily Lake. Pete's was the only place I could get lunch food at 9:00 in the morning. I believe Pete's was in a trailer in the early 80's.

For me, no other hot dog has ever come close to the greatness that is Superdawg.
Can you ride your bikes to Superdawg?

So, did you ever get a chance to check out that hot sauce label?

I went to SuperDawgs on Milwaukee & Devon after seeing it on the TV as one of the celeb's fav spots for hot dogs. The ironic part of that is that I had never been there before despite the fact that I attended Taft High School...probably not more than 2 miles away from there and lived about 5 miles away. They are ok, but, growing up we had this little hot dog stand on Diversey near to Central Park that was the best. Don't know the name of it (or even if it is still there). That is my fondest memory of hot dogs in Chicago.

Now that I live in Charlotte, NC, we actually have a hot dog stand called Matt's Chicago Dog. The guy is from Arlington Heights and he steams the dogs. I prefer them char grilled, but, when you don't have a lot of choices.... they are still quite good, however. Recently, another hot dog stand opened up serving Chicago-style dogs, (called City Dogs) but, Matt's beats them.

Yes, I would recommend taking Elston north all the way till it ends at Milwaukee then go north on Milwaukee a couple blocks and you are there. It is on the east side of the street almost at Devon. A very long bike ride though...
