We buy the seasons pass and if you go several times I think it is a good deal.
If you just go for the day, you feel the need to maximize your time there and 'get your money's worth'.
If you have a seasons pass you can just go for half a day or the afternoon.
We go alot in the summer, I take the girls so my wife can have some well deserved quiet time.
Maybe arrive when they open, then leave 12-1pm.
Can't comment on the water park, I'm not a fan of that kind of thing.
Otherwise the park is relatively clean, but do not be expecting Cedar Point, or especially not Disney calibre. The food is pretty horrible IMHO (except the Chick-fil-A) and grossly overpriced. Lots of times we go to the park, then upon exiting eat at the Cracker Barrel.
I disagree. I live very close to Carowinds. During non-rush hour times it takes me about 10 minutes to get to and from uptown. Of course it'll take longer during peak traffic times but that's not when most people head to Carowinds.
10-12 minutes from downtown Charlotte is unrealistic.
It's only 13 miles, so it could be done in around 15 minutes, or less, depending on traffic conditions
