Well... that post changed my mind and it really would be icing on the cake.

#1 pick and the Hornets name? Jordan would make his money back on rebranding in a month or 2.

No I woudn't welcome it. They're the Bobcats to me, win or lose. I don't think the name Hornets would bring any old fans back at all.

I think you're wrong. I am one of legions that could find myself getting excited about the Charlotte Hornets again. The Bobcats to me are just some NBA team playing in our city... but the Hornets, the Hornets were the pride of Charlotte. I know it's just a name, but there is a lot of baggage in a name.

I just can't get behind the *Bob*cats. It's Bob Johnson's craptastic legacy and getting rid of it will help the fans forget about the unwanted arena and the epic screwing we received at the hands of Stern.

If the Bobcats get Davis and put on a show like the Panthers last year it won't really matter what the name on the jersey says....

From a marketing/nostalgia standpoint, the name would be the icing on the cake.

a name change won't bring back LJ and Alonzo...

How exciting will it be to watch the Hornets if they start out 0-15? Gotta win games...

But the name Hornets comes from Charlotte's history. . .when it was little more than a frontier trading post on the Great Philadelphia Wagon Road. I think that it would make a difference to natives.

natives? what are those? LOL....

win games... the name change wouldn't hurt but I think people are overplaying the significance of the name to attendance.

New name...same owner, same arena, same players.... lets keep it in perspective. A lot has to change for the name change to have an impact.

All this talk about changing names is just a red herring for the real problem which
h is the continued lousy ownership decisions made by this franchise. When the team started to win when they had jackson and wallace, attendance was up. That's the bottom line. It might make some feel good talking about this, but the franchise has much bigger problems.
