Agree completely. Been a problem in this thread for long time because rather than analyze or discuss data, we have people who just point to the prognostications of a government official and then present that as fact, even if those prognostications have been proven wrong.

It's truly disgusting. The only good sign I see is more independents and Dems with kids in schools opening their eyes to the union-Dem corruption in state government that puts these unions ahead of childrens' interests.

"The California Teachers Association (CTA) is a major player in California politics, with analysis from SFGATE showing that nearly two-thirds of the members of the state Legislature have received money from the group over the past four years.

Newsom himself received a maximum donation from the CTA in his 2018 gubernatorial bid"

More than 12,000 coronavirus cases have been reported at California child care centers:

COVID-related childhood illness on the rise, bigger impact in Central CA
MIS-C affects children of any age and usually shows up while a child or a family member is sick with COVID or in the weeks afterwards:

Teachers getting full pay for a year and a month while staying at home and not doing a damn thing is pretty hard to beat. Man now that is a job.

While their union thug representatives lobby the CDC to keep it going.

No one has ever explained to me why a single mom in Oakland shouldn't have the same private school choices that Elizabeth Warren and Gavin Newsom have made.

Great article, these people are nuts and ironically just as anti-science as the far right conspiracy theorists at this point.

From your article: "For many progressives, extreme vigilance was in part about opposing Donald Trump. Some of this reaction was born of deeply felt frustration with how he handled the pandemic. It could also be knee-jerk. “If he said, ‘Keep schools open,’ then, well, we’re going to do everything in our power to keep schools closed,” Monica Gandhi, a professor of medicine at UC San Francisco, told me. Gandhi describes herself as “left of left,” but has alienated some of her ideological peers because she has advocated for policies such as reopening schools and establishing a clear timeline for the end of mask mandates. “We went the other way, in an extreme way, against Trump’s politicization,” Gandhi said."

They actually just linked it, you quoted it. How is this even a serious questions at this point? COVID and politics, especially lockdowns, have been heavily intertwined for over a year now and has been discussed for 685 pages now and will continue to be. I'm guessing maybe the article hit a little too close to home.
