Not All California Schools Can Reopen With New Ventilation Upgrades:
HVAC standards are the elephant in the living room of debates over reopening classrooms. Many schools can’t afford needed upgrades.

From your article:
Last week, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a $2 billion plan to reopen schools, beginning as soon as February for younger students and gradually phasing in older grades. His plan, which is optional for schools but includes incentives to participate, calls for widespread testing, contact tracing, masks and other safety measures, including ventilation upgrades.

And your article is old and before the last stimulus was passed
https://www.future-ed.org/what-congr...-k-12-schools/..

In an interim rule, the federal department lays out a process for states to develop and submit plans for spending their share of the $123 billion reserved for public K-12 schools.

This ventilation argument is also an excuse. The California Teachers Association first said no schools in purple tier should reopen. Now there are no schools left in the purple tier. Then they said no schools in counties with > 7 daily cases per 100,000, now the state is half that and all the metro counties are below that. Then they said they were afraid of the variants, now the variants are doing nothing to slow the decline in cases and deaths. And to top it off, this group, whose source of funds is ultimately taxpayer dollars, took out TV ads whining and moaning about why they can't go back to work.

This is nonsense, and we need to take much stronger action. Suspend collective bargaining and find teachers who want to focus on kids, not bureaucratic rules and union thug bosses.

Saw that, but won't make a difference for the California Teachers Association. They'll just come up with more excuses to stay out of the classroom as long as possible, and because of all the $$$ they contributed to Newsolini, he'll let them do it.

It's actually getting funny how badly we're trailing other states reopening. Thank God my niece and nephew are out of the garbage California public school system and have teachers who take pride in their work, rather than pride in not doing it.

Texas has no mask mandate, it's allowing 100% capacity at baseball games, and it's positive test rates and hospitalizations continue to decrease. If you remember when they dropped the mask mandate, the panic porn stars went crazy. As has been the case with many of their other COVID projections, the "experts" were wrong.

I was pretty surprised how many people are still walking about with masks outside. It's so ridiculous, and these are the types of people that actually delude themselves into thinking they are "following the science".

The media was making such a big deal about the Rangers home opener but of course no follow up to the supposed "super spreader" event.

Bay Area is approaching 50% of all people being fully vaxxed on top of all this. Wearing a mask outside at this point is virtue signaling or silliness. Even liberal DC is allowing the Nationals to go to 100% capacity on June 11. Just need anti-science Sara Cody in Santa Clara County to stop making the Niners the most COVID regulated team in the NFL.
