Again, smug Californian's demonstrate their limited view of the world by espousing such biased foolishness. You'd think people were married to CA sometimes w/ the way they defend it (even its flaws)
If this makes California smug then I guess we as Americans are all smug (something that I think may be true to some degree). Most places in this country, people see things through the eyes of those similar to themselves where they are. Texans too demonstrate this behavior and are actually quite well known for it. Texans too defend their their state including it's flaws. This is what most people call pride. Some people like their hometowns and home states, when has this become a new phenomenon? Some people certainly don't feel this sort of "connection" to one region or another but IMHO I think they are more the exception than the rule. It's funny when others are proud, their just that. When Californians are proud it's smug. Nice double standard.

smug/sməg'
Adjective: Having or showing an excessive pride ..

I like my hometown and state too but I never make excuses for it .. Lie about it .. Overstate things about it .. And flat out deny the realities of it. You can have pride about something w/o being smug and a flat our liar/denier.

and I again point out this term 'Californian' ... good comes to another state .. Somehow it's because some super hero Californian moved there and brought magical good dust w/ them.. Give me a break man

Have your pride but don't be smug about it.

OK thanks, a subjective meaning as I thought. Few people speak straight out of the dictionary.

All you talk about is CA like its the land where Jesus is going to make his 2nd coming .. I wonder if you're well travelled .. If you want to be a made a fool of again, come right out and say I am not well traveled and I will show you evidence of my travels all over the U.S and world. So far you are like 0/8 ad hominem attack attemps .. I have a feeling you are about to be 0/9 if you make a direct attack again. But be my guest .. I enjoy proving you silly wrong

Newflash: The dictionary is not subjective. Its carries the meaning of words in the English language. (Human) Language refers to reality.

Example: hand = object with fingers and thumb for manipulating other objects. Car = mechanical device that uses electricity or gas for transportation etc etc. All words refer to something real (Or thought to be real such as Santa Claus).

There's something called content and intent of the user. This rarely matches exactly what's in the dictionary...sheesh.
