I'm assuming you've never visited Olneyville (Providence), Springfield, Brockton or any other run down place in New England. It's all relative though so you do have a point.

Default Moving to Hyde Park

I am looking for input in regards to Hyde Park. Looking at properties in the area. Most recently Cleary square, specifically River St area. Any info would be great.
Thanks

Family Oriented and predominately lower middle class african american and west indian neighborhood. Veyr few schools in the southern region of Boston in general as theyve all become underperforming. Rogers and Greenwood school may be closed in Hyde Park soon in addition to their closed high school. However, housing values general creep upward just because its in Boston. Public transit is limited but will expand within five years. Can get a lil rundown in the Cleary Square/River Street area, with petty crime being common. Couple places to eat som decent food but little to no sit down restaurants. When I was growing up in the area 1996-2011, I had interaction with many Italian and Irish kids but there seem to be little to no white children there anymore, a white flight that picked up in the mid 2000s housing boom pretty noticeably. I used to ride my bike, with friends, go to the park go to the corner store all the time unsupervised only had 1 or 2 scuffles in the neighborhood, no major injuries. Clean air, not a gang den, not overrun by section 8. Pretty easy commute to downtown with good access to Dedham Quincy Braintree Milton Randolph Dorchester Mattapan Roxbury and West Roxbury. Might gentrify in 10-15 years so its a good investment IMO

True. Some white people do still live near Foley Square though.

It is definitely not the best, but also not the worst. Some neighborhoods are bad, like ones close to Mattapan.

I do not live there, but a friend of mine does and he sometimes talks about some bad things that happen there, but like I said, some parts are bad, and some are really nice and safe.

Roslindale is also similar but I would say is better than Hyde Park.

I'd be careful with River St.

Anything past Metropolitan Ave. might as well be Mattapan.
