Does anyone have any information as to when the proposed new Stop and Shop on Truman Highway is going to be built? Also how big will it be in size? I've been checking one media outlet after another but nothing concrete is mentioned nor is the BRA website helpful either (it has not been updated).

Why not just ask Stop and Shop? If you go to their website, they have their contact information. But why do you ask? Do you like shopping there? Do you want to work for them at that location?

I'm just curious to know more about the size and design of the new Stop and Shop and the redesign of the whole plaza there, that's all. I am confident there is not enough space for a superstore (which I loathe) but this company has been known to attempt the impossible before. I doubt the Stop and Shop company will bother to give me much detail.

I also can't wait until it opens. I like it whenever there is a grand opening.

I just found it a very odd question to ask of this forum. That's all. It'd be such a long shot to have one of our members actually be an executive for Shop and Shop. And perhaps, some of those answers aren't ones that the company wants to air in public yet.

Otherwise, some people do like shopping that chain over all others. And it also could be that the O.P. was hoping to work for them, so therefore wanted the scoop as to when to apply for any openings. I don't think that my questions to the OP were an invasion of their privacy. Shrug.

Default Closed for 9 months

Was just in the Stop & Shop the other day and was told by an employee they were closing June 4, for nine months, and would reopen in March 2012. When construction is done, the plaza will have the new Stop & Shop and a Walgreens, as is currently there - no word about the liquor store though.

Just drove by the site recently. Building is up already but interior has to be laid out. I can't wait to see this new store. It ought to be exciting!

Yep, Walgreens has moved out of the trailer and into their new digs. The inside of that store looks nice and fresh. The Stop and Shop has started putting up shelves and display cases inside. Won't be long now... looks like they are on track for a March opening.

March 31, 2012. Finally!

The size is about the same as the Roslindale store (about half the size of a typical superstore) but with slightly different interior decorations and a fresh seafood counter which Roslindale doesn't have. Very nice and appropriately sized store for the local community. I don't really like superstores and I truly wish Stop and Shop would stop building more of them.
