You mean instead of lasting how ever long it takes to have a green white, checkered ?
Well, there's a difference in track types as well. And what needs to be cleaned up.
yesterday's race, I didn't see any cautions that really took more than a lap. When it takes 2+ minutes to run the course at speed.. You can get a whole lot cleaned up in a single caution lap. Plus, most of the cautions were to clean gravel off the track or push a car back to the pits.
At Bristol.. A blown engine that dumps oil on the track can take 10 laps, or more, to clean up.
Today's race at Richmond is a prime example of why NASCAR needs shorter races. I can't imagine sitting in the stands watching this. It is so incredibly boring.

I agree. The race is now 2.75 hours old, and the still have over 100 laps to go.......AND, once again they didn't start the race until after 3:30PM, EST.

I typically DVR the race. My brother called me Saturday and said DO NOT WATCH THE XFINITY RACE!! I thought it was funny how he said that...but he said it was sooooo boring.
Had hoped the Cup would have been better, but it wasn't. Certainly the worst race of the season so far. Plus all those pit strategies made it very difficult to follow what your driver was doing.
Since I was fast forwarding a LOT, it did seem like the stands were not very full?
One way for NASCAR to improve the next Richmond race would be to shorten the stages to 10 lap, 10 laps, and 20 laps. That way I could fast forward my DVR until 5 to go.
My problem was more with how often they were pitting.. I don't remember that at Richmond ever before.. They were pitting like every 70 laps.
I was interested in the differing strategies.. Racing itself wasn't all that great, I agree.
The Xfinity race.. I wouldn't have told you to not watch it, because the last 5 laps of that were excellent.
