What's the one single thing that would improve Atlanta the most? (Alpharetta: homeless, public transportation)

This is just for fun.

Let's say you can do any single thing. What one thing do you think would make Atlanta the best the fastest?

Rules:

It has to be something that could exist in reality. You can't just say "I'd give the city a budget of $100 trillion"

It doesn't have to be something you actually have the power to do. You can say "I'd make a population where 75% of the people have graduate degrees."

It doesn't have to be ethical. If you wan to get rid of all the homeless people, kill everyone who doesn't use a turn signal, or blow up Alpharetta, go ahead. But it has to be something that you really think would actually make the city better....don't just blow up Alpharetta because you personally don't like it.

So here we go. Come up with one single change that would have the quickest and most positive impact on the city of Atlanta.

I honestly think a better public transportation system would make a big difference.

It would be highly disruptive and Alabama and Florida would oppose it, but I'd put in a series of big locks on the Chattahoochee from La Grange up to Suwanee so there would be in effect a very long lake stretching all the way up to Lake Lanier. That would give Atlanta a nearby large body of water for recreation both on and off the water, and even make Atlanta an inland port.

Create an equivalent organization to this in the Atlanta metro area:

Metropolitan Council - About the Council

It won't address the education fragmentation issues in this metro, but it might be a start.

Yes--a comprehensive public transportation system.

A better state legislature. Stronger, more competent boards of education.
