Her hair. Her choice.

By the same token, after getting my hair cut I walked out and said to her that for 2¢ I'd just get it buzzed off before I ended up in comb-over jeopardy. She said, "Do it!" I turned around, walked back in and had it done. I've kept it that way ever since. She likes it and so do I.

In guess this means we're simpatico.
I think the short, short cuts on older men--meaning men my age--often look great. Definitely better than a comb over, IMO.

I was going to boycott this post but instead I'll address it from 'my head' and (speaking only for myself with no judgment of others) I like my hair when it's freshly cut, perky, barely blow dryable. Once I can wrap my hair around a rounded brush, I see an old lady in the mirror. My husband seconds that the shorter the hair the younger I look.

They all were wearing similar outfits--generally loose fitting, 3/4 sleeved blouses in bright prints over a top. No variety at all. Why?
For some of us longer hair does not work any more. I grew my formerly thick hair out about 7 years ago. I look at pics now and realize I must have been delusional. It was hard to keep and it was quite limp. Often hair changes as we grow old. I realize that not every one has this experience, but I've seen plenty of women my age with my same thinner, limp hair.

I don't have really short hair, but if I tried to grow it out by much more than I have it now, I'd lose my mind trying to get it to look like I would want it to.

As to similar outfits, have you ever tried to find clothes to fit a older, larger body? There isn't a lot out there. I see so many older women in similar loose knit tops, because for them that's all they can find in their size range and price point.

I doubt that the women you saw were trying to emulate each other.

What an awful mistake, when I should have been asking the OP's permission and advice.

OP, what cut should I get? Also, I often wear men's clothes (trousers, boots) and engage in men's activities (driving, taking out the trash). I'm sorry. I'll stop immediately. But you need to stop wearing women's clothes (coats, clothes with buttons), and doing women's activities (showering, shaving).
Not a moment too soon! Dear girl how have you been tending to yourself before?

Actually, never liked Jamie Lee's but also never got in touch to tell her. Maybe Augiedogie will do that!

I am one of those old bags with short hair. Because it always looks neat and well groomed. And because I do have thinning hair. My hair has been thin on top for years and when it's longer I look like a witch. It's fast and easy to care for. Plus I can work out and sweat without worrying about 'doing' my hair. It's just wash and go! My hair is reddish brown, I use henna for color. And I do still wear jewelry every day.

Maybe another reason I like short hair was my mom. She refused to cut her's till she was in her late 70's. Always long and always in a bun of some kind with fuzzy ends all over the place. Very unkempt looking. Made her look sort of Granny Clampitt and even older than she was.

My natural hair is very curly. At one point it was waist length and a real PITA. For a while I tried shoulder length and that was way labor intensive with all the flat ironing. Plus I honestly wasn't very good at it.

No regrets here!

Yes, my mother has a very short and stylish cut and pure white hair. It's thinning quite a bit, and longer hair would look terrible on her.

Do you have any idea how much time it takes to take care of longer hair? I suspect not.

In retirement, when sex appeal is pretty much gone for all of us, there is simply no purpose in it.
