This is certainly an odd notion. Moreover, I wouldn't consider Boise City a "southwestern city". It is much more of a high plains "town" I would think that southwestern Oklahoma places like the Altus/Lawton area along with the Wichita Mountains would constitute the most 'southwestern' part of Oklahoma relative to any measure you want to use.

Agreed. This is Southwest OK for a reason. Maybe the allusion is to Boise City, a misnomer at 1200 people, as a Southwestern city with traditional Southwestern politics, sort of Old West in style, but that definitely doesn't describe Arizona's second city, Tucson. And there was no mass migration from Arizona the last time that state voted "blue" in 1996... I'm a native Arizonan who was stationed there and while it was surprising, it did not signal any apocalypse.

CNN made Boise City look bad and backward about COVID-19 vaccines. I can't imagine being that way, unless I was born and raised there. This area also strongly opposed legalization of medical marijuana and more Medicaid. Where I come from in Oklahoma, there was no problem in voting YES on those two things, even down to the very precinct I live in.

I wonder how representative those people on CNN were to that area. I did a search of Boise City for covid vaccine appointments. Three places are listed and all are booked full for the next 2 weeks. Oklahoma is 11th I believe in vaccination rates and I know personally it took me a couple weeks to find a slot open anywhere near me.

That's the trouble with cable news reports. They only look for one side to the story and may be showing their bias in the process. There is a second side to every coin. Boise City area little over 1000 people, and your report shows some demand.

I'd imagine most small town diners in the state would be about like that. However the guy mispronouncing the name of the town (along with the narrator) probably didn't help with the locals. It's funny that both the citizens of Boise, ID and Boise City , OK both are really sensitive about that.

Then the guy cruises in with a mask and is from CNN. So they are going to be hostile. I wish they had actually GONE to the hospital or maybe the school to get some other people to discuss this...

But in a small town cafe in Oklahoma...that's pretty much what you are going to get.

CNN did not make those Bouse City people look bad. They made themselves look bad.
