I would never have guessed Minnesota had tornadoes. We never used to get them here but now is a regular occurrence in the summer. I agree it’s terrifying! We don’t have a basement either.

I get the feeling tornadoes are the least of MN's problems...

OP, you still there?

How about data instead of it storms worst at night so it does not rain during the day

Below, please find a link to a couple that did extensive research on a place to call home and found it in Minnesota.

OP should edit the title to read "that I should be in MN."

What, in that extensive list, is supposed to appeal to the partner, exactly?

She isn't Danish, so I'm not sure why the Danish Center would be a draw.

(And so on...)

I was in the Anoka area in 2012 and now that I think about it, it was Cub that was the only grocery store for miles around. Isn't that the one where you have to pack your own groceries? The other stores you mentioned were nowhere around. I know, becauseI looked for anything that sold groceries. And sorry, I don't see Target and Walmart as grocery stores.

And I am well aware they're in Atlanta. I am also aware that when the humidity feels like you're swimming in it, you don't usually enjoy going out to hike in the woods. I only mentioned it because a lot of people from out of state don't associate Minnesota with high humidity.

Yeah, shrimp is a deal breaker for me. I love me some shrimp. Just like I'd miss the hell out of Round Table Pizza. But if you want a plus, twenty miles north of Anoka, I found a Long John Silver's.

Oh, yeah, let's not forget the mosquitoes and the 10,000 mosquito farms in Minnesota either. LOL
Minnesota is one of the countries top states for business, including quite a few fortune 500 companies.

So if grocery stores are scarce it could be a great opportunity to start that type of business. Just treat your employee's and customers the way you would wanted to be treated.

Those damn things chased us out of Lake Itasca. Our family RAN to the car. I'll take mosquitoes any day.

We have so few of those hideous creatures in South Dakota that it's rare to spot one. They must respect the border between the states.

Mark their existence as one reason most people would never think of not to move to northern Minnesota.

OP enjoy your higher property taxes, higher cost of living, the heat/humidity, bugs, long cold winters, tornadoes, potholes galore, horrible roads, crazy backed up traffic, especially on the main freeways, constant road work. Good luck.

when it comes to humidity, traffic, and mosquitos, it appears Atlanta has us beat.

You forgot to mention higher wages. The median wage in Minnesota is $5000 more than in Georgia. So even factoring on taxes and cost of living (which is only marginally higher in MN anyway), you have more money and purchasing power at the end of the day.

You also forgot to mention far better schools and healthcare.

https://www.commonwealthfund.org/pub...em-performance

You also forgot to mention a homicide rate less than 40% that of Georgia. Or maybe you think a 250+% chance of your kids getting murdered is a price well worth paying so long as you get to make less money.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._homicide_rate

You also forgot to mention hurricanes. You know, we don't get them as often here in Minnesota as in Georgia.

Now, on to where you're wrong.

Roads? Minnesota's are better:
https://worldpopulationreview.com/st...ality-by-state

Tornadoes? Georgia is far more at risk:
https://www.disastercenter.com/tornado/rank.htm

Bugs? Again, Atlanta is the worst city in the country, period, for mosquitoes:
https://provenrepellent.com/the-wors...es-in-the-u-s/

While Georgia is one of the worst states for infestations:
https://www.nativepestmanagement.com...uggiest-states

Heat and humidity? Are you truly so clueless that you think it's cooler and drier in Georgia? Seriously?

Long cold winters? Hey, you actually got one right! Congratulations!

"Yeah, my wife was shot and killed and a tornado leveled my house and my kids go to a crappy school. But it didn't snow!"
