I have one son who went to UM. Honestly, for the cost one might as well go to Harvard, MIT or Tufts. He was offered big scholarships, so that was the main reason he went there. In his opinion, many of the profs were incompetent. In my opinion,the place is very overrated

Right now, another son is in his last year of USF Tampa. Double Engineer Major. He will graduate this year and really enjoyed the experience. Mild traffic. Best of all...no debt.

After living in both places, I will take Tampa any day. The traffic near UM is maddening on a daily basis.

For an out of state student, University of Miami would be the cheapest because they offer a lot of scholarships and financial aid.

Yes make sure you receive some scholarships.

I applied there, and decided to wait one semester for personal reasons, and received a scholarship during that period.

If you still go there, please check the teacher's reputation. Some of them are really aweful. Check which classes get filled first, that will give you an idea.
