The ground floor had a large stage where live music was played by both house bands such as The Real Thing and Ecstasy, and the biggest headliners of the day: The Village People, Vicky Sue Robinson, Tavares, Donna Summer, Odyssey, and many others. You could get lost and dance the night away on the huge circular dance floor complete with underfloor lighting and the requisite disco ball above.

From the IMDb website:

After Disco faded out Pete & Lenny's became Confetti in 1984.

Clubs must have run in the family as Pete Boinis’ brother, John Boinis, opened Christopher’s in Fort Lauderdale in 1977.
Pete moved to Boca in the 80's and opened "Pete's" on Glades Road just east of the Turnpike. He lived in Boca Grove Plantation right behind the restaurant.

He started doing fishing tournaments about 20 years back in Maryland.

That was the NYC ownership group, where the original Bachelors III opened. The Fort Lauderdale location was owned by Namath, another NY Jet (QB Richard Todd) and Miami Dolphins DB Bob Baumhower. All three were college buddies/teammates at Alabama.

We can all agreed that the always-controversial headline-making "Broadway Joe" was no doubt the No 1 Bachelor.

Probably because there were several Bachelor's IIIs (NYC, Tuscaloosa, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Miami), it becomes confusing as to who the owners of each establishment were. There could also have been 'junior' owners - not one of the 'III'. My mother, who was in the restaurant business in the 60s and 70s here in FTL always spoke about Bobby Van and Namath as owners of the BIII on Sunrise Blvd. And Bobby Van makes sense due to his connections with the city of Fort Lauderdale and the entertainment industry - he could secure performances from top names. And due to the success of the FTL BIII he later became the owner of many other famous clubs here in FTL.

According to Sunbiz, Florida Department of Corporations: Bobby Van was the Principle Owner of the BIII located at 1745 East Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Bobby Van's (born Robert Vanucchi) obituary also confirms that he was an owner at the FTL location:
Quote:
In 1972, Bobby and his partners brought Bachelors III to Fort Lauderdale opening its first location on Sunrise Blvd. Following the success of Bachelors, Bobby followed with Mr. Pips, Mr. Laffs, Oscar’s Saloon, several additional Bachelors locations, Rosebuds and the world famous spring break hot spot, The Candy Store.
But who was the 'third' Bachelor here in FTL?

Not Baumhower and not Todd: according to an interview in BoatUS Magazine (Dec 2013, p 25):
Quote:
"Richard Todd also got me [Baumhower] into the restaurant business. He and Joe Namath opened a restaurant in Miami called Bachelor’s III; I was more of an investor.”
So you may have confused the owners of the FTL location with the Miami one.

I think the third Bachelor in Fort Lauderdale was Raymond Abruzzese, another Bama teammate:

Raymond Abruzzese's obituary reports that he was an owner at the FTL location:
Quote:
Raymond moved to Florida and became an original "Bachelors III" with Joe Namath & Bobby Van.

Spent the weekend at the Ritz Carlton, had a blast. Rode bikes to Southport raw bar, walked by the Elbo room but it was too packed to squeeze in a beer. That corner is rough as the night goes on.

Shocked to see BeachPlace has turned into a franchise dump! Max's on the 2nd floor is now a Taco Bell! Saw a Subway banner hanging off the 2nd floor, Lulus and Hooters are still trying to hang on but the former iguana bar on the first floor is now a CVS. I worked at BP when it was new parking cars in the garage, it was new and decent back then, now it is just gross.
