I remember the bowling alley! My wife and I dated as teenagers there. And thats also the "secret" on-ramp for 95S. Long lines in the morning for people on Cypress Creek turning on Andrews to get on, when you can go thru the light and use the ramp only locals know about!

Also, remember that train crossing is where the gas tanker/train crash explosion happened in early 90s, want to say 1993.

Train crossing accident was terrible. Light changed, trapping a fuel tanker on the tracks (just like 10 ft over the tracks), cars all around stuck in traffic. Train came through at a high rate of speed, hit the truck which exploded and melted cars in their place. I think 5-10 people died in a horrific fireball death.

"Boy, I am remembering Montego Bay was owned by Eddie Trotta, now the motorcycle builder. I knew him a million years ago when both he and I raced offshore boats. Or did Eddie own "Uptown"? I wonder who remembers that club?

I still have my old Montego Bay VIP card. Ft laud was the very best back then."

Mike, you may be right. My memory is a little fuzzy on who owned what. Weren't Montego Bay and Uptown two clubs side by side? And then Uptown became something else? I know for sure Vincent owned September's, but for some reason I always thought he was involved in Montego Bay first. But I could be wrong and if you knew Trotta, you are probably right.

Yes, Ft. Lauderdale was the VERY best back then. Like I said, work hard, play hard.

Yes, I remember Uptown. Didn't the staff wear fuzzy wigs? Or maybe it was just a reflection of my fuzzy mind at the time.

i was standing not more than a hundred feet from the explosion that day.
'If' the wind had been blowing eastward instead of to the west .. the fireball would have toasted me and a friend of mine.

Does anyone remember the most popular Ft Lauderdale nightclubs from the 80's on the strip? I took my wife on our first date at one of those clubs and am trying desperately to remember the name. Any help would be appreciated.

Elbow Room is still there (so may have not been the "most" popular back then but considering it is still standing it would be considered the most popular today!

Art Stock's Playpen and The Button Lounge were hot back then.

Joe Namath's Bachelors III was on Sunrise just east of US1 or Federal on south side ... I believe he closed that club and moved to Jupiter just before he married his first and only now Ex wife ( 1984 ??? ).

Thanks guys. I remember Art Stock's Playpen and of course Elbow Room which is still super popular today. It wasn't either one of these though.

The place that I'm am trying to remember was on the strip. That is the section of Ft Laud beach on the one way street by A1A.
I remember that there was a disco inside and I believe they had a rock n roll section as well. North side of the strip.
