As long as people put the cart before the horse, fares will be higher than they could be.

That is the chicken and egg arguement where nothing gets done.

I've put in a couple of queries to compare CAE to CLT where my family plan on flying in the future...surprisingly, CAE came out cheaper (R/T SFO, for example), a few dollars more expensive, or just not do-able. I know the airlines say that if more people fly out of CAE the prices will come down...well, how about taking the outrageous baggage fees they charge and off-set fares? Didn't they bring in a haul last year just in baggage fees?

I never even considered Augusta... though its just as far from Columbia as Florence and certainly has more service than FLO. It would be a pleasant surprise if there were some decent fares out of there as well....

Not trying to start a fight or anything, but given I live in Columbia, Augusta Regional would be my absolute dead last choice.

I agree with you, and hope they can form a CSA by 2025. The Greenville/Columbia and Augusta/Savannah comments are much worse.
