Yah, on the model of payola, that's when you pay someone - presumably with clean urine - to fill the cup for you @ one of the periodic or snap urine sample requests.
It used to confuse me that so many people mix up "sense" and "since" until I realized that they SAY them the same way.
I have always pronounced the "i" in "since," so it didn't make sense to me, either. I pronounce, "cents, sense and scents" the same way. I guess I could try to pronounce the "t" in "scents" but I'd probably sound like a crazy person.

Similarly, it seems that there are a lot of people who pronounce "then" and "than" identically, and--of course--they can't seem to figure out the correct word when they post messages online. And, in the southern part of US, many people pronounce "imported" and "important" identically. That has the potential to be... very confusing.
