or "cyc-er-ling". Will we eventually spell these words that way?
Hand-er-ling? Cyc-er-ling? I have no idea what those words are supposed to be. Handling? Cycling? Where is the "er" coming from?

What's funny is I notice a lot of my pronunciation problems come from a Midwest upbringing and accent. What is incorrect sounds perfectly normal if you've been saying that way all your life. I am trying to get away from the gitchyer, wouldjou, kin I go? and other ways I say things.

I had a teacher who was teaching court reporting once mark me down for using the correct word. For those unfamiliar with court reporting, you have to pass a state test usually given at 220 words per minute for 20 minutes. You will then be given 15 minutes of that to transcribe. You have to pass with a C, which is getting that transcription 97.5% correct, and that includes spelling and punctuation. Each wrong letter or misplaced comma takes a point off.

Anyway, in this case the judge had said, "Without further ado..." and that's how I transcribed it. My teacher crossed off 'ado' and wrote 'adieu'. And refused to believe she was wrong.

A local independent fast-food place had a ad on their sign for a "CHESSE BURGER COMBO".

Yah, for those chess grandmasters on the go. Be sure to try the Kasparov combo - served with a dollop of sour cream on the patty, my Droogie, & extra vinegar for the fries.

Is that a real tattoo? I can't tell from the photo.

To me, it appears to have all of the hallmarks of a real, very recently done, tattoo:
Redness in the general area
Raised area consistent with the lettering
A light protective coating of Vaseline covering the new tattoo

Five words out of twelve are incorrectly used or spelled! Was this person trying to set a new world's record or something? On the other hand, maybe this gal just wanted to give people like us something to talk about.

Default Da!

I tracked the image to some Russian-language site, but Russian's not one of my languages. It looked like they were making fun of the typos there too.

If the tattooist didn't speak/write English, that helps explain the problems. It looks like the intent was to imitate Black English - which would only complicate the tattooist's work. If he/she had to rely on whatever they were given to work from, then the blame's on whoever wrote the target text.
