No tropical weather anywhere worth typing about. Something should be going on around Cuba this time of year and nothing.

It's over with hurricanes. Try again next year.

Look at that Dig in the west! These are temps at 10,000'. It's not always below freezing at this level in October that far south. Normal is +5C over Vegas.

It's -10C over Idaho this evening and normal is about freezing

I pray we get a boil up around Cuba. Gulf water temps are super heated above normal thanks to a insane above normal Oct. If the upper levels are right a super cane can come alive in the gulf with gust over 220mph. Look at what we had in the Panhandle on that insane hot and above normal Oct in 2018. That cane blew up in no time with the super heated above normal gulf water temps since we never have falls anymore. 3 more weeks to go so with any luck something will boil up.

Hit 90F here today. Before today the last time we hit 90F was Sept 21. Fairly summer-like here thru Friday with highs in the upper 80's and lows 68-70F.

Looking forward to front arriving by the weekend. Should bring highs down to the 70's and lows to near 50F.

Got some storms this afternoon and evening

Euro sticking to an overall warm pattern to end October with possible changes in November

Probably too early to start a North American Winter 2021-2022 thread but the UKMet latest run is bringing more cold air into North America but a warm souther US with possibly a battle zone in the Central US. Could be a wild winter

Gotta hand it to modern numerical weather prediction, it has made huge strides over the years. When I made this post 8 days ago the temperature in Livingstone, Montana was almost 80°F. Here they are today:

Not exactly a major blizzard--but still a very impressive call by the models. Forecast snowfall amounts from NWS Billings:

Early morning temps

https://twitter.com/Skilling/status/...083124736?s=20

We had some beneficial rains here yesterday

Temps sliding towards seasonal norms as we progress throughout the week even going below normal

Average high/low for Oct 12th at ORD is 65/47F and on the 18th it's 63/45F

Maybe one more push of well above normal temps before the pattern breaks down

Odds are starting to increase for the eastern US to see an abrupt and flip to an early winter pattern as we move into November

Trough digging down to Mexico. Snowstorm for Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana.

It's -10 below normal in Seattle right now, -12 below in Lander, Wyoming. And yes, the heat is in the East. +15 above normal in Chicago, +10 in NYC

Seattle been in the 30s before I been in the 40s this year. Not sure if that's common or not
