Another 91f or more in Tampa and no rain at all this month so far and the tropics are just dead. Looks like another super dry year if i don't get a bail out by Dec.
A very muggy 69F this morning with the kids at the bus stop. No fog, though, like the last few days. Rain moves in late today and lasts until late tomorrow night. Could see 1-2 inches of rain. Then things dry out and really cool off for the weekend. Highs Saturday may fail to get out of the 50s!

Yes, cooler, but only a little below average for the most part, low temperatures really not much below average after the frontal passage either.
Atmospheric river unloading over southwest BC: up to 300 mm of precip in the next 48 hours. Freezing level expected to rise to 2500 meters so nothing's in it for would-be skiers either (top of Whistler-Blackcomb is ~2300 meters).
During a walk around local Boomer Lake in Stillwater, OK on Wednesday evening, I saw some simultaneous weather phenomena that I don't recall seeing before. First I saw a large rainbow with virga. The bottom of it didn't go to the ground. There had been no rain. Then I turned around and saw a more spectacular than usual sunset. Both pictures by me below. Similar sights were also going on in the Oklahoma City area.
In central Oklahoma, as fall begins to transition to winter, the weather has finally been acting up, since it's the secondary storm season. The Oklahoma City metro has been pounded by several storms in the past week with a few tornadoes, fortunately none strong enough to produce much severe damage. No wonder. All or nearly all tornadoes were only rated at EF0 or EF1. Altogether in Oklahoma for the past week, there has been 23 tornadoes, more than throughout last spring. Fortunately, Stillwater had no severe storms, while getting much needed rain with no flash flooding. .74" came from early Friday morning's mild storm. The rest of October looks like it will be more fall like with no early freezes, so far in store. No more highs clear into the lower 90s.
