Had a good frog chocker around 1am with 1.40". Been two weeks Friday since i had any real rain and needed it bad. Hope i can get 8" to 15" for the start of Sept so i can lock that month in with above normal rainfall as last Sept only had 3.5".
With just a couple days left in the month, August in Indy is sitting just a half a degree F above normal with rainfall a half inch above normal. We'd have finished a bit warmer but 6 of the last 7 days have been a bit below normal temperaturewise. Today and tomorrow temps will be around to just slightly below normal again. What seems amazing to me is August only had 3 days where the temp failed to drop below 70F at night. And 2 of those days it dropped right to 70. August usually makes me think of heat and humidity and those humid days usually keep our nights in the 70s. The normal low is always in the 60s but temps staying in the 70s usually seem much more common than just 3 days in August.
Overall, with two days left, summer has been almost 1F above normal and rainfall has been almost 3 inches above normal, mostly due to a very wet June.
We got some heavy rain this morning as I was walking to class because of an MCS. It has been much cooler than expected this afternoon. Today's high of 79F/26C occurred at 05:45 this morning, and it was in the upper 60s F/~20C while the precipitation was falling.
Got .90" last nite. Sure needed it as it is gonna get super dry next week as the hurricane will dry me out big time just like i said days ago as air sinks on the west side of a tropical system. Sept looks to be another dry month like last year.
